Have you ever been given a tip or hack that was supposed to be the only way to achieve a result in the kitchen, but later found out it actually didn’t make any difference?

I mean, it does make a difference. It's up to you to determine if the difference is worth the precious salt. Salt the water heavily, boil the pasta in it, and taste the difference. The pasta does not absorb much salt, so some people recommend making your water 'seawater' levels of salt. I don't do that much, but I do make it pretty salty.

I find that it really improves the taste, but no one has a gun to your head forcing you to do it anon.

If you want your pasta to taste good, you need to do it

Before the broscience post:
- Adding the right quantity of salt is not enough to rise the boiling point
- event if it was the case, what really matter is the temperature of water (80C - ~176F) which is below the water boiling temperature.

>>12971246
That's why you can't taste the difference.
You need more, a rule of thumb is
1l (water) / 100 g (pasta) / 10g (salt)

>> No.12971771

>>12971293
Add like a tsp of olive oil to the drained pasta and lightly toss. It will not stick no matter how long it sits. The downside is now you have to wash your strainer instead of just toweling it off and chucking it back in the cabinet.
