So today I was shopping and saw these giant raisin looking things and thought they were prunes but no, they were dates! So I bought some! I ate a few and they were pretty good!

What can I do with these things? Any tips? They are so good I might just eat them solo, haha.

Sticky date pudding with some icecream and brandy custard/cream is probably the best dessert on earth.

There are many raw vegan desserts that incorporate these. I love them too. Be careful though, I once got a semi old pack on the shelf at a local brewery store and one of them was infested with what looked like small worms. Always tear them open before eating them. It also makes it easier to avoid the giant seed in them.

I'm beginning to substitute dates with pecans for snack cakes like donuts and little debbie's after learning that they contain unhealthy oils that can clog your arteries.

You only have to soak the dates overnight in some water in the fridge and the next day it tastes like ripen figs. I also blend the soften dates with pecans and other nuts with a fork and roll it into a ball.

I have never encountered worms in my dates before.

If I am dating/trying to fuck a girl who claims she is vegan I'll use these in the dessert course for the third date at my place. Soak half them in hot brandy with a few other dried ingredients like blueberries and raisins. I'll pick out the other fruits and puree/pass just the dates. Going in from the stem deseed and hollow out the other half of dates. Fill them with some crushed nuts like candied hazelnuts the brandy rehydrated berries and pipe in the puree. A sweet easy kinda boozy dessert course that will have you eating stinky vegan ass within the hour

lots of things can be done with dates, but I honestly just eat them as candy
I have made bacon wrapped dates for events before and people love them, but in my opinion it doesn't do enough to transform them to make the massive effort worth it

I do use them as sweetener though - if you're making a fruit cake, then you can't do much better than chopped dates

My supermarket sells these and they're delicious, they're just compressed little date-nuggets rolled in coconut. Two ingredients. But just be aware dates are so sugary that this is basically candy, but it's good-ass candy

my weird idea is to stuff them with cacao nibs. so you get a sweet chocolatey treat that doesnt melt under heat, good for backpacking if you are worried about choco chips melting. anyway its not bad, and its crunchy.
