If you make gyoza without proper ceremonial offerings, you will have nightmares for 3 years

I saw your thread on /a/. As far as tips go you may just want to buy a frozen bag and pan fry them to get this craving out of your system. They'll still taste good, have solid crunch, and fill you up.
That being said if you want to go whole hog a list of ingredients for a basic gyoza can be found with a simple search. Prepping and making them is also easy if not a bit time consuming. Your main battle will be with the cooking oil. If you have had no experience with cooking oil take the time to watch a few videos on how to properly use it without destroying yourself or your kitchen.
But again, pan frying is pretty much superior to full fry anyway.

On a side note if you DO decide to go all out on this you may as well buy extra ingredients and learn how to make dumpling soup, one of the greatest culinary inventions of the east.

It's Japanese variant, so you either buy it while from the store, or you buy the premade wrapper, filling, sauce from the store, each premade for purpose specific, and assemble yourself.

Are gyoza good for you?

>> No.13604697

Yes, if steamed it is a healthy food to sustain yourself off of. Deep fried gyoza is fine in moderation but the added fats and oils will eventually become a problem. Everything in moderation.

Yeah, they're pretty decent. Usually lean pork with a ton of veg. Might be a bit too much carbs in the pastry but that's easily managed.

Now why would anyone want to do that.
Anyway, I did end up making gyoza since then, for a first attempt I'm pretty satisified. Next time I'll use less meat for the filling though, I used too much and it overpowered the taste of the mushrooms and garlic.
I'd post a picture, but I ate them all.

Did you pan fry, deep fry, or steam them?
