Why is non alcoholic beer so expensive? Ideas for cheap and carbonated beer replacement. I gotta stop.
I gotta get off the sauce. It’s not even 9 am... got up at 5, have drank 9 beers in 4 hours. I love and crave the taste of beer but I can’t keep doing this. 20-30 per day. I don’t get drunk. Tolerance is a bitch. Functional alcoholic that wants to quit. I’m scared to quit, know I need to, scared to keep going like this. I need ideas for beer replacement and I’m pissed at myself....I’m a coward because I shouldn’t have to devote my life to God or a program to talk about this. Please skip over this. I’m sorry. I just need some ideas from others that have gone thru the same thing. Give me a few hours before you report. Please. I’m ashamed of myself and just need to talk to others for a little bit. Thank you.

Carbonated water with lime helped me a lot. Just try to drink 2 less per day. Eventually it gets easier.

When my wife told me she was pregnant, I went and checked myself into rehab. BAC was .85. Not .085. Was stone cold sober. I had wanted to get sober for a long time, hated drinking, hated the dependency, hated the money spent, hated the way my wife thought of me, etc. Spent 3 weeks in rehab. First week was awful. Drying out is a horrific experience. Shakes, sweats, fevers, spasms, etc. No sleep for a few days. Thankfully all medically-supervised -- don't dry out on your own. It can kill you. The next two weeks were a bunch of therapy sessions. Dumb, and for me, not needed, but probably useful for some folks. All I needed was to get sober. Some people need to understand why they drink, why they developed a dependency, etc. I drank out of boredom and the fact that I can't turn my brain off at night. After I got sober, I found better hobbies -- exercise and woodworking for me. Do what works for you.

t.sober for 13 years, no Bill W Jebus shite.

Have you tried Spindrift?. Like la Croix (also a good alternative to alcohol), but they use juice instead of infusing. Tastes like fizzy juice without the sugar. I think that getting off of booze is going to be hard either way, hopefully you can find a good alternative to lessen the blow. Good luck man.

my man i get it. it's not alcohol for me, but i get it.

you gotta understand this though: it's not a drug problem.

you don't have a problem with drugs. the alcohol isn't the issue. it's a problem with your brain. it's a problem with your behavior.
don't say "man i've got a problem with drinking" because where you'll end up is in rehab. they'll put you away for weeks and then when you get out nothing has changed in your brain, you just haven't consumed any alcohol in that time.

the drinking is a symptom. it's not the root disease. maybe the problem is boredom, maybe it's depression, maybe it's your social life. i don't know.
the drinking is just a crutch you're using. you don't need to kick the crutch out, you need to figure out why you're limping. do you get what i'm saying?

the drinking will go away as a result of fixing the problem. if you are living a life where you don't feel like escaping, then drinking will not be so appealing. you won't use the crutch if you can walk properly. no one wants to drink 30 fuckin beers in a day.

you can try to switch the crutch. vaping instead of smoking. alcohol free beers instead of beers. you're not fixing the core problem though. maybe you're not aware of it yet, or maybe you don't really know how to fix it, but that's going to be the path to resolution.

do you have health insurance? log into your health insurance website and search for psychologists. see which ones are near you, and look up some reviews. call their number, make an appointment for a consultation. go to the appointment. tell them what you told us.

it won't be easy. it's going to be very hard. it's going to be hard for a long time but it'll get easier. maybe the first psychologist you talk to isn't the one for you. call a couple. you can talk to multiple psychologists until you find one that you are comfortable with. this is the way you fix it though, my man.

I actually don't believe you. I have dealt with many of the worst alcoholics around and I have never personally seen anything over 0.36, and only rumors of people getting up to 0.4.

Take this from a semi, sort-of, kinda, trying but not really recovering alcoholic (he types as he sits at the bar with beer in hand), DO NOT drink non-alcoholic beer. All it does is remind you of beer, and sooner or later, you'll likely return to the real thing. I found it hard to substitute alcohol with other drinks. I started chewing toothpicks like someone trying to quit smoking.
AA? Forget it. That shit is nonsense.
I know why I drink, and I make no excuses for it. If I don't start drinking, I don't need to drink. If I have one, I have fifteen.
You need to remove yourself from situations that you would normally drink in.

The best non alcoholic beer I had wasn't non alcoholic. It was 0.5% but it was about $5.50 for a 4pack. A dozen Stella Artois is usually around $22.

OP said he doesn’t get drunk. I’ve seen and lived with people that have drank like this. It’s nuts. I’m drunk at 6. Being around someone that can drink that much and just maintain is scary and in an odd way very impressive. My dad drinks like this. Buys a 30 pack every day and also drinks other stuff. I’ve NEVER seen him drunk or even somewhat inebriated. Idk how he does it other than tolerance I guess. He’s a good dad though, not mean or anything. He’s 70 years old tho and has been a heavy drinker his entire life

>> No.13688318

Not alcoholic isn’t bad but bud 55 or Miller 64 is better. In a 30 pack it’s not that bad of a deal and 1/2 the alch content.

Kvass is great, it's basically bread soda.

It has a tiny amount of alcohol in it as part of the fermentation process, but I've never felt it

This. Beer you can pace on if you build up to it. I could crush a six pack every night with dinner if I didn't care about getting fat.
