It's a mass-produced thin, semi-soft crumbly pastry with a sweet jelly-like filling. If you have ever had a Jaffa cake cookie with filling, they are very vaguely like that but not spongey.
They taste, in my opinion, overly sweet. The ones with fruit-flavored fillings are generally best.

They would honestly probably work better if they just made the same thing but in the size of a cookie. They come in sleeves of two pastries, and each is about the size of a graham cracker but ~1/3rd wider
Eating the whole serving is pretty excessive and makes my teeth hurt from the sheer amount of sugar. I haven't eaten them since I was a teenager, they just make my feel gross.
That they're sold as a breakfast is silly, and comes from their roots as a breakfast streusel gone mad.
