Turks, for all their love of pastry desserts and meat have a quite "light" breakfast compared to many other countires. Olive-cheese-egg-tea-bread-tomatoes-cucumber is the standard, maybe you add salami. the image is a bit overkill mostly found inrestaurants etc. But it wouldn't be an unusual sunday brunchlike either.

It is really different, not "coffe+small pastry" kinda breakfast but it is also not a very calorie/protein based breakfast like the english breakfast.

That's because it's Yale Romanisation, which is by far the most superior in terms of reproduction accuracy for native English speakers.
Most people when they see Baozi would pronounce it like Ba-o-zee, when in reality it's Bau-dz. Same goes for Zhou, which most people would pronounce it as zou rather than jou. Ideally Wade-Giles should be used but most native English speakers have little grasp of sounds that are both unaspirated and unvoiced.

The whole point of romanisation is to simply represent a sound using Latin or Latin-derived letters. I just happen to choose the system that represents the sound most faithfully for English speakers, which is the goal of neither Pinyin nor IPA.
If everyone was familiar with IPA, you bet I'd use it to romanise Mandarin words, though technically it's not romanisation since IPA uses a lot of Greek characters, but you get the idea.

Don't get me wrong I love all American breakfast staples, especially southern, but honestly my ideal breakfast is just two sunny side up eggs and buttered toast. There's nothing as sumbline and flawless as sunny side up eggs (yolks have to be completely runny or you fucked it up) and buttered toast with OJ. The best part is popping the unbroken warm yolks into your mouth whole after you've eaten all the whites and the subtle, satisfying yolkiness filling your mouth. All the salty, sugary, filling excess of pancakes, meats, potatoes and whatnot is surely enjoyable but the flavor experience isn't as perfect as that.

Breakfast foods in general are a meme. Why do we pigeonhole ourselves into having only one of a half dozen dishes for one of your daily meals? I could understand if you're a food as fuel kind of guy who just wants something with energy and relatively healthy, but that's rarely the case. It's usually something horribly unhealthy and directly analogous to a food you'd eat at lunch or dinner, and yet the idea that I'd want to eat that instead is so bizarre that I can't even get it served in the morning. Some asshole can eat a biscuit piled high with meat and cheese, but I'm the weirdo because I want a burger. Some asshole can eat hash browns, but I'm the weirdo because I want fries.

Don't even get me started on foods that are just an excuse to shove sugar in your mouth. Looking at you, pancakes, french toast, and doughnuts.

Srtudied in Vietnam over a summer break. The dorm staff had to be told to just give us Vietnamese breakfast instead of sugar coated fries and shit.
Pho is pretty good breakfast, it's an all-day dish in Vietnam.
Used to get Banh mi too, often plain ones with a fried egg and wedge of laughing cow cheese.

I only had a bit of breakfast at the B&Bs I was staying at which ended up mostly being buffet styles (although this one place had like a dozen homemade jams that were amazing) but Bavarian food in general was some of the best I ever had. I've never had better beef or venison than what I had there and i'm not even sure what it was. The beef was some kind of roast that just completely fell apart and melted in my mouth, it was heaven, in some kind of salty red sauce.

Thank you for being you, Bavaria. I want to return.

Bánh mì literally just means sandwich in Vietnamese, you filthy mongs. You can put whatever you want on it.

What the second anon here is talking about is normally called Bánh mì đặc biệt, which is literally just "special sandwich", as in house-special. An authentic bánh mì đặc biệt, will generally be: a crusty, buttered french roll, pâté, a random assortment of Viet cold cuts, pickled carrots and onions, jalapenos and cilantro.

Generally any place that's selling bánh mì is going to use the same buttered roll and vegetables on every sandwich. The only thing that changes is the meat. So if you get bánh mì gà it's going to be chicken and if you get bánh mì xá xíu it's going to be with barbecue pork.
