I get nearly the same thing every time I go to one of my preferred restaurants, my orders are usually simple, and I don't speak much or loiter around. A homeless guy lived in a van behind an abandoned strip mall nearby and would come in every day and buy a cheeseburger with the quarters he would find on the grind during his hustle. This story hits home for me. When I was 15, my friends and I went to Taco Bell every day after school. I saw this homeless man everywhere, so much so we called him "anon's bum." He would get a bean burrito or two at the same time every day, and obviously was a little mentally touched, but kept to himself.

I actually saw him at the mall while he was buying the portable radio he listened to every day while he'd dance to himself. I'd see him across town with my parents. Saw him everywhere.

One day, there was a major hailstorm (I live in the desert so this is rare). We were all waiting to get into my friend's car, and he got up, wiped his mouth with a napkin, waved at us, and rode his bicycle right into the hailstorm. We never saw him again.

I never worked in fast food but I used to work at a 7-11. It depends. Some customers were really cool and I was happy to see them but other ones were complete dicks and always made shit tedious.

I used to work at a small local icecream shop in a medium-small city, local as in everyone who worked there knew the owner in someway, and the owner worked a lot of shifts himself and made the icecream we served personally in the store.
Anyway some regulars were great. We had some older folks who would come in and get a simple single scoop vanilla with sprinkles or something. They were great, whether they were nice or not.
Some regulars would get some complicated sundae on a semi-regular basis and that's fine, but that's when it got annoying if they were consistently rude/short with us but that never really happened. Usually people who are rude are having a bad time, and people who are having a bad time don't usually go out to the little neighborhood icecream shop.
Anyways there was one guy that came in almost every other day to get a vanilla sundae with very specific amounts of various toppings. We only ever had two people working at a time, it's just a ice cream bar and cash register with a couple tables, and basically everyone else working there was a chick. All of them thought that guy (40-50 something with graying hair, had the face shape of Jeffrey Epstein) was perving on them so they always went to the back and had me deal with his fucking autistically precise order. I didn't really have a problem with him and he always tipped me well, but he did ask about the girls that worked there and seemed disappointed if I said they were busy in the backroom or whatever so maybe they had a point.
Whatever though in retrospect all those chicks were skanks and would talk to me about their boyfriend troubles cause they probably thought i was gay or virginal enough that I would give a shit about their femoid problems

I remember going to a Chipotle often after school and as long as you were nice and had an easy order they let you get away with a lot, since I remember quite a few days them giving me guac or extra chicken with no extra cost or sometimes a free drink or chips.

I have to pretend every last one of these geriatric fucking boomers are really funny and interesting and pretend laugh at their jokes and let them call me some goofy fucking nickname because i know for a fact if i dont ill have to deal with them giving me shit every single day i work. Seriously, how fucking pathetic and lonely do you have to be to walk into a gas station every single day of your meaningless existence and shoot the shit with fucking gas station employees. That said, there are SOME repeat customers who are nice as hell and aren't fucking braindead losers who expect you to treat them like royalty because part of their daily routine is going to the gas station. These people are the ones who come in every other day at most, though. Also, fuck cops. I see at least two or three of them a day and every last one acts like they have super important shit to be doing like I can't see them sit in their patrol cars out front stuffing their faces and vaping while they fill out paperwork or browse facebook.

I'd say I liked 85% or my regulars.
If someone has a complicated order or is picky it's not too bad because you get to know them and can adjust.
Two examples: I worked in a fairly popular cookie chain and a lady would come in 3-4 times a weed and wanted the freshest, softest snickerdoodles. Most of the time we just lie to the customers and say the cookies are fresh but with her i just told her how old they were and she adjusted her order accordingly.
Second: Worked in a pizza place and we got a lot of weirdos but it gave us the option to pull up previous orders and that saved us time from having to type up all the adjustments on the POS. Cooks probably still hated them tho

i used to eat chinese like twice a week in my small city and the staff would usually eventually recognize me and start to refer to me by name when i'd walk in. this happened at three different restaurants, and they were always extremely nice once I became a regular, making nice little small talk with me.

When I used to work at a bar and grill I used to be a regular at some of the bars. Got to the point one would let me run a tab and the other would have my drinks ready by the time I sat down on a stool.

Not the same but similar, I now work in a smoke shop and love 95% of my regulars. Only ones I don't like are the meth heads and one guy who broke the bat that came with a dugout in the parking lot.
