15 years ago I worked at a burger king. A homeless guy lived in a van behind an abandoned strip mall nearby and would come in every day and buy a cheeseburger with the quarters he would find on the grind during his hustle. This story hits home for me. When I was 15, my friends and I went to Taco Bell every day after school. I saw this homeless man everywhere, so much so we called him "anon's bum." He would get a bean burrito or two at the same time every day, and obviously was a little mentally touched, but kept to himself.

I actually saw him at the mall while he was buying the portable radio he listened to every day while he'd dance to himself. I'd see him across town with my parents. Saw him everywhere.

One day, there was a major hailstorm (I live in the desert so this is rare). We were all waiting to get into my friend's car, and he got up, wiped his mouth with a napkin, waved at us, and rode his bicycle right into the hailstorm. We never saw him again.

That's because as customers, management knows that we hate repeat staff.

I dated a BK chick who I used to order from regularly, I just got to know her, first name basis, chatted sometimes when she ran my order out if it needed running out to a table and/or the store was quiet.
A buddy of mine who went to the same store had a ridiculously complicated order to make a whopper vegetarian, plus this stuff, minus this stuff...another chick got used to his order and would take over any counter he went to and ring it up. They ended up going out too.

It's not as creepy to ask out fastfood chicks if you're the same age.

I used to work at a small local icecream shop in a medium-small city, local as in everyone who worked there knew the owner in someway, and the owner worked a lot of shifts himself and made the icecream we served personally in the store.
Anyway some regulars were great. We had some older folks who would come in and get a simple single scoop vanilla with sprinkles or something. They were great, whether they were nice or not.
Some regulars would get some complicated sundae on a semi-regular basis and that's fine, but that's when it got annoying if they were consistently rude/short with us but that never really happened. Usually people who are rude are having a bad time, and people who are having a bad time don't usually go out to the little neighborhood icecream shop.
Anyways there was one guy that came in almost every other day to get a vanilla sundae with very specific amounts of various toppings. We only ever had two people working at a time, it's just a ice cream bar and cash register with a couple tables, and basically everyone else working there was a chick. All of them thought that guy (40-50 something with graying hair, had the face shape of Jeffrey Epstein) was perving on them so they always went to the back and had me deal with his fucking autistically precise order. I didn't really have a problem with him and he always tipped me well, but he did ask about the girls that worked there and seemed disappointed if I said they were busy in the backroom or whatever so maybe they had a point.
Whatever though in retrospect all those chicks were skanks and would talk to me about their boyfriend troubles cause they probably thought i was gay or virginal enough that I would give a shit about their femoid problems
Tip for any young coo/cks/ here working with women; don't ever let them vent to you. You become simply a social object to them.

Customers that act like a smile and saying "thank you so much" like three different times and asking how my day is going (I'm three hours into an eight hour shift, how do you think it's going?) is a replacement for a decent tip are the worst. >people who use your name because you have a nametag
I really did always hate this, too. Especially because I'm bad with names and faces and will forget people if I've only met them once or twice. When some stranger came up to me and used my name I would have a startled moment of panic where I wondered if I should know who this person is. Dumb boomers think it's "humanizing" or some shit, with those Facebook memes like "Remember your cashier is a person, too! They have a name, call them by their name!" All it ever did to me was remind me that I was working in a job where my name is on display for strangers like a goddamn zoo animal. I think if I ever had to work a job with a nametag again I'd make up some fake name to put on it so I would always know if someone knows me or if they're just reading the nametag.

just imagine, if you didn't act like it was some great offense for someone to try and just be polite with you by saying "Hello, (your name). If someone has a complicated order or is picky it's not too bad because you get to know them and can adjust.
Two examples: I worked in a fairly popular cookie chain and a lady would come in 3-4 times a weed and wanted the freshest, softest snickerdoodles. Most of the time we just lie to the customers and say the cookies are fresh but with her i just told her how old they were and she adjusted her order accordingly.
Second: Worked in a pizza place and we got a lot of weirdos but it gave us the option to pull up previous orders and that saved us time from having to type up all the adjustments on the POS. Cooks probably still hated them tho

Used to go to this fried chicken place that was hella cheap and only staffed by nice old ladies and two young girls, one of whom was really cute and the other was meh. Went there all the time and they always gave me extra chicken, possibly because I flirted with all of them, even the old ladies. Although I thought it was just my imagination until I matched with the meh one on tinder and the first thing she said was "Please be the cute boy that orders drumsticks" and I was. Didn't fuck her though, that was the tail end of my whoring.
And fuck you, drumsticks are best.

The drive thru girl at Starbucks seems to flirt with me and it's sort of creepy. She's not ugly but i don't find her attractive and honestly, i don't want to be forced into small talk or answer her prodding questions while her colleague makes my drink. im essentially trapped because im in my car and she keeps the window open to talk and is super boisterous when i first pull up. it'd be funny but super rude to roll my window up to avoid her chit chat

so it's to the point i go out of my way to a different starbucks on my way to work a few days a week to avoid her

i used to do the $1 large black coffee on the way to work 3-5 mornings a week. i can't stand mcdonalds food, but the coffee was solid for $1 & allowed me to drink some on the way to work vs waiting to get coffee at places next to my office. the mcdonalds was always super busy long drive thru but quick. i never really said a word to anyone at drive thru beyond polite thank yous. figured i was anonymous random guy

then i had a work trip and wasn't home for 2 weeks. when i went back to the mcdonalds both the pay person and person who handed me the coffee at 2nd window said they hadn't seen me in 2 weeks and tried to strike up small talk. creeped me out. stopped going there. now to avoid it i pay 3-4x as much for single origin fag coffee at going to "independent" coffee shops near my work kek

Stop being such a fucking cuck and just decide who you want to associate with and who you dont. No one is forcing you to actually be friends with anyone you dont want to, so lamenting some weird power balance dynamic in lieu of making an actual character judgement is the most sniveling weasel way of being antisocial I've heard in awhile.

I get up at 4 am and I wait for the big breakfast at mcdonalds and wait for my friends to roll in at 6 am and wait out until 7. When I used to work at a bar and grill I used to be a regular at some of the bars. Got to the point one would let me run a tab and the other would have my drinks ready by the time I sat down on a stool.

Not the same but similar, I now work in a smoke shop and love 95% of my regulars. Only ones I don't like are the meth heads and one guy who broke the bat that came with a dugout in the parking lot. He wanted a new one for free but it was his fault so I didn't. He now comes in every 2 weeks buys some candles and asks to speak to the owners and for there phone numbers and e-mails that we can't five out.
