Very delicious but very sweet. Unfortunately I once ate an entire pecan pie, got sick, and now cannot stomach it. That was over a decade ago...

how can other pies even compete?

>> No.14198440

Pecan pies are based and I love them but often I feel like people fuck them up by adding to much syrup and not enough pecans. The pecans should be left whole and should basically take up the entire interior of the crust besides some of the gelatinous syrup filling in the crevices. Your pic looks like a good one as you can see even in the bottom layer there is plenty of whole pecans. Unlike the picture in this post >>14198377 which has far to little pecans and it looks like over half the interior is pure gelatinous syrup. Not picking on you personally at all just stating my opinion on what makes a good/bad pecan pie and both examples just happened to be posted. I’m going to throw in a wild card here and say that pecan pie gets some real stiff competition from the strawberry rhubarb pie as well.

I disagree. I've never had a pecan pie that was imbalanced. Even a thin layer of pecans can do the job

Fruits never belong in pie, as weird as it is to say. Fruity desserts never tasted good, I'd rather just eat the fruit fresh.
Even chocolate is ruined by fresh fruit. Choco-covered strawberries are okay once in a while.

Both of these are interchangeable I feel like but I personally find myself using pee-can the most often but Puh-Kahn is also just as popular of a pronunciation if not more popular I’m sure in some states. If you look at the word I feel like it shoulda actually be pronounced peh-can but I’ve never heard anyone say it like that and it sounds completely wrong lol.
