Used to be quite common, but it's mostly just old people I see doing it now.

I mean, why not just smear a stick of butter on your ass? It's going there anyway, so just cut out the middle man.

Oh hell no. Like a week ago i tried it. Sour af. Store buttermilk isnt the original buttermilk that people drank. Store ones use bacteria to make it sour. Real buttermilk is supposedly mroe sweet and palatable. Keep store buttermilk for baking pancakes and frying stuff.

Cultured, sour milk is drunk across tons of cultures, dude. It's basically the same stuff as ayran.

Try kefir sometime, it's way more sour than buttermilk

I do. Practically the only way I use it or use it a yogurt substitute in recipes. Also, makes me more sleepier than warm milk at night.
I really don't like the fake milk + vinegar variety of it though. That just tastes gross.

Pretty much every culture around the equator or warm places drinks it. Historically, it was used to preserve milk for more than a couple days.

>> No.14248487

I drink it nearly daily with food. Not that rare in Finland.

Lately i have been noticing there is a sweet aftertaste to milk which i had not before noticed

I wonder if im just getting older and my sweet tolerance is decreasing or what, because its undoubtedly sweet, im just surprised it took me so long to realize
