Going to Texas Roadhouse on Friday with a few friends as they recently opened back up. We all came to consensus that medium rare is always the way to go. How do you get yours cooked?

>We all came to consensus that medium rare is always the way to go.
Unless you have a coupon/gift certificate, why not instead go to a real local steakhouse where the meat is aged, chef is paid more, sides aren't all fried and warmed over frozen food, and yea, simply more divine? Same prices honestly. Texas Roadhouse is priced at the top of the chain prices yet is only outback level combos.

When dining at a chain where you can't know the source of the meat or the quality, be careful. Order it medium well, and be happy with medium rare-medium-well done spectrum, but the chef won't know how to get it right. And, at least your food will be heated enough that you don't get ill. Also, you're killing COVID from the wait staff and prep cooks, so you want it good and hot, if not charred. Get horseradish sauce. It's has antimicrobial properties. Also, drink beer between each bite to further antibacterial assistance. Go ahead and squeeze some lime juice over everything, like you're in Mexico while you're at it, rims of glasses where hands touched or other people's germs weren't properly rinsed off, and on top of food. Rub the wedge right down your fork tines to sanitize. Wouldn't hurt to ask for your own disposable cutlery or bring from home! Use gloves to cut the bread or trade up to something right out of the oven. It goes without saying, skip the salad and put some sanitizer in your pocket, and use it if you do anything, like touch the edge of your plate, the back of your chair, etc. Be ready to order all courses! Do not have them coming back to your table for refills or anything at all. Bottled beer. Bottled water. Goodbye Felicia.

If I'm at a Texas roadhouse then I'll probably order the rib roast (misnamed prime rib, since it's likely choice at best) rather than any steak because I can do those at home better and cheaper. It's usually available medium rare to medium, but I agree with y'all and get medium rare with fresh horse radish to dump in my aus ju.. Their bbq stuff is way cheaper and not bad, although definitely not Texas style. It's likely closer to KC or Memphis style, the chain being based out of Louisville KY. I don't like potatoes so I'll get a Caesar salad and either green beans or rice for my sides.

When most people think of well done steak, they think of the burnt, dry, tough piece of shit their mom fed them every once in a while whenever she was tired and hung over from the bottle of wine from the previous night after having the 365th fight with her husband that year, or the steak at the family bbq that the uncle fucked up and forgot to take off the grill so they gave it to the kids. It's possible to get a good well-done steak, but it's not the type of well done steak people talk about.

Reason people get looked down on is because steaks are expensive and tender when cooked less.
Well done removes the tenderness so it like eating a cheap cut of meat.
You can make a $20 cut of meat the quality of a $5 cut by over cooking it.
If you like well done get a cheap cut and slow cook it.

this is the kind of post that shows you have absolutely no idea how to properly cook meat. i have done well done steak that keeps their tenderness, different cuts have different tenderness, it doesn't matter if its dry or well done, also any cut of steak once is cooked either well done or "rare" will turn into a leather shoe once it colds. both a 20$ or a 5$ cut have absolutely the same value if you dont know how to properly cook it, shit
also this.
