My place used to do a soup and sandwich deal where the soup was £1.50 extra if you got a sandwich, wrap, baguette, or salad (it was a place at the airport where you could stay or just grab things to go, prepackaged but we made it all on site). Cheap fucks would come in at 04:30 asking what soup we had to get the deal. Even on the breakfast menu.

Chicken soup is fine. Not special though. I made it a lot when I first started cooking for myself after living alone. Veggie soup is fine too depending on whats in it. If i'm willing to buy the ingredients (cause i usually dont buy squash or corn or beets or wtv), i'd make it. Beef stew - idk, seems like there's better uses for beef. Ill probably make it when I make more money and buying stuff will be easier on the wallet.

Still, it's kinda simple. I prefer curries (tomato, coconut milk, or lentil based - are there any others?) cause of the seasoning.

I'm 26 and love soup. I usually stick with chowders or potato soups though. Had some of the best clam chowder of my life in Rhode Island a few years back and have never been able to find something like it. Can't recreate it to save my life either.

Everything that is shit about soup is easily fixed by becoming a soup or casserole. With all that said, the only soup I ever eat is chicken and sweetcorn soup. I consistently get the same quality, it's almost never shit and it's typically quite filling.

For 99% of the westernized world, soup is something you get at restaurants (might be shit) or from cans (definitely shit), and in NO-WAY are you allowed to customize your can of shit processed soup to make it more palateable because the easiest way to make soup is just tossing it in a bowl in the microwave.

Also, a lot of people are pretty bad at making soups/stews, especially if the person going to eat it is a child (thanks, grandma).
