Coffe Cup in Boulder City, outside of Las Vegas, by the Hoover Dam. It's actually really good. The dish he recommends, the pork chili verde, is legitimately delicious. Their other stuff is good diner/breakfast fare. Everyone I take it to seems to enjoy.

It helps that it's a little out of the normal hustle and bustle of Vegas. And it serves bloody marys/mimosas.

Squeeze Inn. I went to one of the locations that opened after the Sacramento location was featured. It was good. The typical ketchup/mustard/mayo/onions/lettuce slop makes it too sloppy. Better to go plain and fold the fried cheese into the burger. It's a perfect burger if you do that. Their pickles are really good. They should dice them up and turn them into a relish.

Nah, but I've actually been to two places on Kitchen Nightmares. One nearly a decade before he showed up to it, and the other I don't know how long after.

yeah, Fred's in Fort Worth, went to the original location once or twice and then to their second location quite often after work. a friend/coworker's family had previously owned the restaurant before it became Fred's, so there was a lot of history and memories for him.
the food was great. not the best by any means, but that second location was off the beaten path and a nice quiet place to unwind with a bunch of coworkers after a long day.

they featured a stall at the dallas farmers lodge that did BBQ. I guess after the episode aired, they got a shit ton more customers, leading them to buy a building down the street. It's called Pecan Lodge. Line around the block before opening. It was decent, but feels like you can get the same elsewhere.

Been to all six in PIttsburgh. They're all pretty good, but aren't spectacular unless you're ordering one of the specialties.

Dor Stop is run of the mill breakfast diner but they have very good pancakes

Nadine's is the cheapest breakfast in town and the fried bologna is great, plus there's a breakfast fryup with whatever meat is leftover from the previous night.

Crystal Restaurant closed but was the only decently priced bar food in downtown

Big Jim's has the best sandwiches in the area, huge as fuck and delicious and never crowded

Kelly O's is Kelly O's, way too hyped these days but you still get all the Pittsburgh specialties like kielbasa as a breakfast meat choice or fried mush

Starlite is the worst of the bunch, just being a run of the mill pub

I regularly go to both of the restaurants he featured in Jacksonville FL. Metro Diner is good but it's a little overpriced and really kinda feels like one of those fake southern restaurants made by rich people to try and pretend to be from the south.
Blue Boy Sandwiches on the other hand is a really fucking good sandwich shop in the middle of the ghetto. You get a ton of food for your money and it's always great. Feels like it hasn't changed in 40 years and that's exactly how I like it. Not a lot of people in town even know about it even though it was on DDD, so it's kinda been saved from getting flooded with assholes who learned about it from TV.

I went to a place years before it was on DDD. It was a popular local burger place in SLC, Utah called Crown Burger (or maybe it was Astro Burger - they were almost next door to each other).
Moved away and haven't been there in years, but it was neither a diner, a drive-in, nor a dive. Just a local place right on the main street.

There's one in my small city. It's smack in the middle of the downtown campus area so I have only gone a couple times because fuck parking there. It's a basic diner, but they also have really good calzones, which is what I got both times. There's a bagel place a block away from me in NJ that I was going to for a few months before I found out it was on DDD. When I watched it, I learned there was a secret menu where I could get a pork roll burger. Pork roll slice on a burger with tater tots and thousand island dressing on an everything bagel. Since then (about a year now) I get it a few mornings a week.

Also, a cool quick story. On one of my anniversaries with my girlfriend, we went to DC and during our first night at the hotel room we were watching DDD. The episode ends up being in DC and we found a burger place that was really good. Expensive but good.

The other one is called "mat's big breakfast" when it opened people would line up 2 or 3 hours before it opened in the middle of fucking summer to eat there. I was not very impressed. Their hash brows were not crispy, their bacon tasted like beef jerky, and they didn't have any salsa in the building. The only thing they make that I like is biscuits and gravy and they tend to over cook the biscuits.

Edelweiss, a German deli in Portland, OR is a great spot. Their reuben sandwiches are fucking delicious and the selection of meats is insane. They also have a great import beer selection and their baked goods are quite good. There's an old German lady who works behind the counter and I think her only purpose is to yell at the other workers in German because I've never seen her do a damn thing but she's always there and very clearly doesn't speak a lick of English.

I like Frank's as well. Their noodles keep well even for a few days and the texture is hardly compromised. If you go to their Beaverton location they do a honey walnut shrimp with some of the biggest fuckin shrimps I've ever seen. I actually wanted more breading for a change.

Used to work at a restaurant featured on DDD. It was Caplansky's; a Jewish deli in Toronto, up until in closed a few years ago. Had some good select stuff, my favourite was the beef tongue sandwich and the liver and onion platter, would eat it frequently on break.

I went to Oinkster in Eagle Rock after seeing it on DDD. Actually I think I've been a few times.
Pulled pork sandwich - not my style, too much vinegar
Pastrami - pretty good, and different enough from the Hat to make it worth a try.
Reuben - awful.
Would be a pretty decent place to go to once in a while if not for the DDD tax.

The Tandoori Oven in Logan Utah. Random college town with a random Indian food place that is half of a gas station. Great food though and all of the cooks and staff are actually Indian instead of white nerds making foreign food.

There was an episode I saw of a few places in Portland that looked pretty great, but I'm not driving up to Portland any time soon with all the shit going on there every goddamn day.

I went to some dump in North Carolina that had a big mural of Fieri painted on the side. The food was lame, they had actual Campbell's soup on the menu, and their big item was a giant meatball on a burger bun. I went through the abandoned bar in the back to find the restroom and found 2 of the waitresses smoking cigs and doing blow. That was a far more notable experience than the lame ass food.

I'll actually google states/cities from his episodes and may try to hit one of them when I am traveling. Never been disappointed actually. It's like knowing somewhere there locally who tells you the mom and pop place locals love the most. This fan website seems to have a nice quick list I turn to first:

Of the Florida restaurants alone, I've probably gone to half, and some of the Miami choices are actually 4 star well respected chefs doing their comfort foods from Blue Collar to Sakaya Kitchen. I most recently did Danny's All American last, just pulled off I75 with friends on my way to a concert in Tampa. Very cute location under giant old oaks and very good food. It would be very easy to social distance there.

Unironically the best I've been to. The staff made this like the best restaurant experience I've ever had hands down. The music was good and the food was pretty damn solid for bbq. There's better bbq in KC sure but I don't think you'll find a place with better service. The waiter talked back and forth with me about bbq for the whole night and even gave me a tour of the kitchen. I need to go back sometime but I've been trying to get around to trying the hole in the wall bbq joints around KC.
