Are there any good ones out there? I tried some vegan substitute sausage last year (I forget the brand) and it smelled like burnt rubber when I cooked it. The taste wasn't good or especially bad, but it was really strange. I don't know how to describe it. It only served to reinforce the feeling that it wasn't real food and I shouldn't be eating it.

You're asking if there's any good processed, textured, and flavoured plant-mulch meant to simulate meat products?

The more I eat vegeratian meat substitutes the more I hate them. Once in a while a brand gets it almost right, but then they change the recipe again. My rule is if I have to double check the packaging if its not real meat when I taste it, then it is good. Good taste, but shit texture is a bad in my book, btw.

If you love meat so much then eat meat instead of trying to replace it with barely digestible garbage.
If, however, you're looking for another source of protein then you should try beans.

Beans and mushrooms, especially mushrooms if you want a meaty flavor and similar texture to meat in a weird way. Beans are super filling and soak up flavor well, so it's a great substitute for meat. Tofu is also pretty great, and if you press the extra water out of your tofu it makes it perfect for frying.
I haven't had tempeh, but I've heard great things about it considering it's also soybeans.

Make your own seitan. https://youtu.be/SUPAPIMzP5g
You can bypass the washing step and save a lot of time by buying vital wheat gluten and using that instead. It’s cheap, delicious, and just one bag will make a ton of seitan.

Meat is unhealthy and bad for the environment

>> No.14585514

for me, a meat eater, tempeh and tofu are the only acceptable meat replacements because they don’t try to emulate meat texture but serve the same purpose as meats do in some dishes
don’t waste money on fake meat. if you must, buy a huge bag of Texturized Vegetable Protein from an international mart, hydrate it, and mess around with seasoning it to your liking

The WHO acknowledged that their system of classifying carcinogens has fuck all to do with actual rates of cancer or even the mechanism of causing cancer.
Also they're a fucking incompetent band of paid-off asshats who hold closed doors meetings at resorts in the Seychelles and think fucking Mugabe, the man who cut life expectancy in Zimbabwe in half, is a perfect "Health Ambassador".

Oh bring it on bitch

Yes its a class one carcinogen meaning it has been confirmed to cause a measurable increase in cancers.

Thats the classification.
But Class one carcinogens vary from Tobacco to meat etc, providing no nuance or scale to how actually carcinogenic they are. only that it is measureable.

Based on the last literature I read Meat caused a 20% increase in cancer rates.
Wondering which cancers meat causes? Its literally only bowel cancers
Want to know the rate of bowel cancers?
5/100
So that 20% increase leads to....
a rate of 6/100

Further analysing what causes Bowel Cancers, In the uk its estimated only 13% of cases are directly linked to meat. Meaning the other 87% are linked to other, far more important things like obesity, smoking, lack of exercise and general diet.

Expanding on diet, Bowel cancer is massievly linked to dehydration, Lack of dietary fibre etc.
So if you dont eat like a retard you are fine to eat meat.

The anti meat stance is moronic, Wider dietary and lifestyle choices are far far more relevant.

Processed meats are very bad though Ill give you that, but normal stuff?
perfectly safe

Vegans have significantly lower testosterone levels (google it). And then go lurk /fit/ if you want to know how detrimental that is to your health.

If you’re in the US then impossible burger is the gold standard for beef flavored stuff. Tofurky makes decent hot dogs/deli slices and gardein does a good chicken. Most of it is shit along with most vegan “cheese” but you have to shop around.
