Never been, but it looks like that, or some faggy veggie option are the only meals they offer? Looks kinda mediocre, but I guess it's better that they do one thing good rather than 10 things bad. But I think you're going to MT for the show, and the food is secondary. It bothers the history nerd in me that they offer tomato soup in a Middle Age themed establishment though.

You are an immoral human being and she is a shitty disgrace of a “woman”. Your mistakes will carry on into the hearts of her children and mar lives further into the future. Not saying the dude isn't a waste of life, but chances are that the mom is a just as big, if not bigger, one. I still see these kinds of women I went to HS that post their train wreck of a life on FB which is pretty much the only reason to still have a FB. Every single one has kids from like 2-3 different fathers, and it's not them, it's just that every man is a piece of shit. But wait, nvm this new guy I met drunk at line dancing night is the bestest man in the whole world. Cut to a year or so and another kid later, and it's rinse at repeat. Typically people who experience things like this tend to pride themselves on not abusing their kids the same way, but then turn around and completely ignore their kids happiness or well-being for their own self-interest. What happened to her is unfortunate and sad, but one day humanity is gonna have to man up and cull all of these “people”. Allowing them to continue the cycle of mental trauma and psychological damage is just the prolonging of suffering, and the prolonging of suffering is equivalent to the creation of suffering.
Maybe we just need to implement eugenics on a wide scale, but something HAS to be done because from what I can tell 90% of families are experiencing this at all times. Maybe even 99%.

MT isn't for people who know anything about history. Ironically, it tends to attract those kinds of people to work there, so you're more likely to get more historical wanking from talking to the workers than from the show itself. All castles have bars, the stuff's a bit overpriced but you can keep the cups. They have a standard meal which is what was pictured and they have a veggie option which I quite enjoy (but if you get it you'll likely be getting your meal separately so you'll either have to wait or get your shit early, something to consider if you're going with friends).

It's really fun if you're balls drunk or on some other drug. You don't get the fun of wandering around like at faire but it is a bit immersive in their weird anachronistic way, and that's kind of cool imo. I had a guest one time that was on mushrooms, he seemed to be having a good time. They do a little light show too (or did when I worked there) that I don't think they do at ren faires for obvious reasons.

If you got the deluxe package you probably got extra merch and preferable seating, unless you just specifically paid for just the announcement (which comes with a scroll in addition to the chancellor reading it out). The picture with the queen is extra; everyone gets it taken when you enter the castle and it's another thing they try to sell you.

This is at least the case for when I was there, which was back before the show was changed to the one going on now, so things could have changed since then.

Like I said in a different post, never pay full price and just go early during off-peak (not weekends or holidays, idealistically on a Tuesday or Wednesday). If the show is small enough (and you're in line early enough) then you can easily get front row seating without paying extra. You should be able to upgrade once you get in the castle if you still want all the material extras.

Also, it's stadium seating so I don't think there's any real bad seats per se. You are closer to the action if you get the royalty upgrade but you also are in the splash zone--rarely they'll kick sand up and sometimes a horse takes a shit right in front of your section and a squire can't clean it up fast enough.

If you have the money to spend and don't want to spend it all on alcohol then you do you, I've catered to plenty of people who were totally enamored, paid for all the bits and bobs and loved it. There are hardcore MT fans out there and the wonder in their eyes is almost invigorating.

You generally want to go to a show like this during peak times/days. I can't speak for MT in particular because I assume it's a corporation, and has their own policies, but shows like what MT does tend to be their best on packed days. The performers know they are doing to get paid well for the night, and well, they are performers and love what they do, and to have people watching enjoy it. Cheering doesn't influence who wins, but it does absolutely influence how well they perform the fights. They are performers and there is nothing like a crowd. That being said, the knights and showcast are paid the best in the castle (outside of management) and are going to get paid well regardless of how well they perform.

Not all of them love what they do, but enough do, and you can tell it on their faces. They do respond well to more energy and more energy tends to come from bigger crowds, but I return to what I said earlier about the place being like a theme park: is Disney more fun when you're fighting crowds and dealing with lines or is it more fun when there's few people around?

A fully packed show has less time for workers to cater to your individual interests. This can show when you're getting a lot of bar service or if you want to get more food or drink from your server (the drinks in particular don't flow as freely when the arena is filled with 1,000 people, compared to a small show when if you get on well with your server you might get an extra potato, more bread, drinks outside of the two to three refills you are allowed, etc). A final point is that a full show kind of necessitates showing up early and/or getting special seats. I know I said that there aren't any bad seats before, but there are "nosebleed" seats that are behind the paths that all the workers take. You're sitting high up enough that you can hardly notice them going about in front of you, but it's still pretty far away. These seats are only used when the arena is near completely full.

If you want the energy of a full house there's nothing quite like that in smaller shows, but if you're cheery enough or drunk enough and don't want to fight the crowds then I'd 110% recommend going off-peak. My remark about paying full price applies to any show, peak or off-peak.

OCD about the colour of the skin but not about the costumes being off? Kind of related, in my castle the head knight wouldn't let girls become knights because "muh historical accuracy" but we had a black knight, an asian knight, a brown skinned knight...I think they finally let girls become squires last I checked, and squires are to eventually become knights, but the females in the show part were delegated to falconer and princess (now queen). It was really funny when our black knight played the northsman/barbarian/bad guy; at the end of the old show he's taken away in chains and is whipped by the dungeon guard.

I doubt they changed this, but the red and yellow knight is supposed to be canonically from the line of Charlemagne. Apparently the founders are descended from him. The knights used to have historical analogs, but with each new show they get farther and farther from accuracy, and since I haven't seen the new show I can't comment on how far they've strayed from the truth.

I went there a few times as a kid and I remember it being fun. The last time I went was maybe 8 years ago for my nephew’s birthday. Not as fun as I remembered but at least this time I could drink. They did this thing where the knights throw roses into the audiences for a maiden to catch and I managed to catch one which was neat.

Also, nothing is more medieval than a frozen strawberry daiquiri in a plastic glass.
