I think grilled cheese are great and I've cooked them for years with 2 slices of bread, 2 slices of american cheese and butter on the outside.

But recently I've started using 1 slice of american cheese on a piece of bread and cream cheese on the other and jesus christ it's fucking delicious. I highly recommend it, adds a delicious tang to it.

What else do you guys do to elevate this classic comfy recipe?
