The point I was making, is that he has never been a head chef with all of the responsibility over the entire kitchen and the kitchen budget. That is why his restaurants failed. There is a massive gap in his learning. How on earth can you run a restaurant business and owe £80 million?

I think anon is trying to explain to you that you're confusing what a chef and a cook is. A chef runs a commercial kitchen. A cook is somebody who either works below the chef/chefs in the kitchen or like a tv celebrity or something. Chefs are a rank in something called the brigade system that was developed by a famous french chef named Escoffier based off a military heirarchy. The reason for different titles between "chef" and "cook" is so somebody can walk into a professional kitchen and understand who they're supposed to be letting direct them and who they're supposed to direct on their station. Its helps a kitchen operate smoothly. So the reason anon is arguing with you that hes not a chef is because he's claiming that Jamie Oliver is a business owner and television cook because he doesnt direct or conduct a kitchen in brigade.
