My school had "domestic technology" classes which were basically cooking for a family once a week for 5 years, so I could do quite a lot.

I think they've dropped it since but I found it really helpful. It had some useless shit like how to cook certain things when you're missing ingredients but I tend to just buy the ingredients I'm missing rather than baking shitty eggless cake with chickpea water.

My 18 year old sister can't cook anything at all save for burning some peppers and blending them and calling it soup, so I do think it should be brought back

I learned how to kill and prepare chicken, pig, fish and shrimp by the time I was 14. I would also bake with my mom so simple baked goods and a few filled puff pastries. Couldn't make bread for the life of me. Couldn't do soups or sauces other than chicken soup and marinara.
