Are sauteed onions okay on a hot dog?

>> No.14945698

Yes, and pan-fried, and especially pickled onions.
Long story short, all onions are good onions.

Fried onions and peppers on your Italian sausage or bratwurst is good but fully caramelized is way too sweet and overpowering. Only raw onions for a hot dog.

As long as they're in direct contact with the bun under the hot dog, otherwise they could be a tripping hazard.

I've been doing Hot Dogtbober where I've been eating nothing but variations of hot dogs. Or glizzies as you kids might now them. Poops are perfect, nicely firm, and they have a slightly smoky smell.

My preference is raw onions but what ever floats your boat. Every hotdog needs onions fren.

>> No.14953816

>>14945689
A hotdog should have onions prepared at least 2 different ways out of raw/fried/sauteed/pickled. Preferably all 4.

>> No.14953830

>>14945689
why wouldnt they be? they are even better on brauts though

>> No.14953913

This.

Also pickled onions in every form - I especially like to pickle mine in two ways:
1: Oregano or marjoram, allspice, chilies (I prefer spicy ones, so habaneros if you're into the fruity flavour, or thai chilies if you like the irony taste and just heat.
2: Whole toasted caraway seeds, black- or white pepper and a bay leaf.

Pickling liquid can be with with ratios that you like, but I tend to do 1-2-3, so 1 part vinegar, 2 parts sugar, and 3 parts water.

But yeah, like said: raw onions are the bomb.
