why is japanese cuisine so hilariously bad?
the main staple dish of nipponland is sushi which is literally just fish on rice

ramen is just inferior version of authentic Chinese noodles
even instant noodles is taiwanese (Chinese) and not from japan

why could the nips not make a satisfactory cuisine?

Not saying it’s entirely attributable to salt, but I don’t think we should look at ancient humans for an idea of a healthy diet. They ate what they could and what they had to, and they also had abysmal life expectancy for most of history/prehistory. First-world citizens are now in a position of having a ridiculous variety of food options readily available, and that means that we have the power to optimize our diet for things like longevity. Salt isn’t bad per se, but greater salt consumptions is provably deleterious to your health in several ways.

yeah most asians knew about this, thats why brown rice exists. its not as great but its good for ya.
i generally just dont eat that much at all, i enjoy a lot of meat and veg, pickled veg, stews, that sort of thing. i do pair it with rice but not every meal.
I also avoid sugars and sweets - theyre just not substantial and do nothing for me so whats the point? but i do drink coffee and occasional alcohol.
I've found that people in my culture generally do enjoy american junk food occasionally but not with great excitement... because it always leaves the body feeling heavy. we like to feel light and ready to spring up to action at any time, heavy feeling foods is just junk.

Its the indians that I feel really bad for, they use a ton of white rice that has more sugar content, and a ton of them have diabetes because they consume a lot of bread as well.

As someone who has a psych degree, it was shocking to realize just how marginal most research nowadays is. a lot of research has been found to be bs after the fact. Look up the replication crisis.

That being said, science isn't a joke. It's just being counterbalanced with the humanities successfully anymore.

Is this a real thing? My mum is diabetic and her blood sugar spikes everytime we have rice. Not as much as pure sugar would though. She avoids it these days.

Its not that science is bad or wrong. Its that people over romanticize what science is or does.
Science is just a process of trying to figure shit out. In doing so, we're usually wrong or make mistakes. It comes with the territory and you're supposed to take studies with a grain of salt.
A scientist should be skeptical of papers, not because people are evil and out to get you, but because people naturally make mistakes or don't have the proper resources. You should try to verify it on your own if its super important to you.

The bigger issue comes with the masses who hears "science" and thinks it means "fact" when science is a constantly changing thing as we learn more. Science is good and we should listen to results, but we also shouldn't be surprised when we're periodically wrong.
