Hi Everybody, I'm a British person.
I just wanted to say that our food is really good and I get really upset when I see so many people online saying bad things about it. It's all unfounded and not rooted in truth at all. I like the food of so many other countries as well as my own, why is the UK singled out so much for having bad food? What makes British food bad compared to other places? I've seen all the nasty things people say but I've never had it explained. Please, all I want is to understand and get along with people.

British food is amazing when prepared well. Unfortunately, so many people lack even basic cooking skills and they turn simple British fare into garbage by 1, not seasoning correctly, 2, not cooking it correctly and 3 by using shitty produce and incorrect cuts. I've been to pubs and ordered a simple roast dinner, only to be served undercooked bland potatoes, thin gravy with no flavour and over/under cooked tough meat. Now that I've learner how to cook I almost never order roast when out because I know I can make it better at home.

climate, culture and history will tell you why someones cuisine is the way it is.
Maybe part of France has the same climate as Germany but not all of it, commercial relationships weren't what they are today.
Certainly ways of controlling the population aren't what they became later.
A feudal existence means you ate what you produced, when you start considering what can you produce in the German climate and what you can produce in France for example, you start understanding the differences in cuisine.

Polish cuisine is pretty similar to German cuisine though. Especially because of Prussia and Silesia, where many grandparents are/came from. Many of the dishes from that parts are going to die out here though, because the youth doesn't appreciate those savory dishes anymore. Will be the same for the savory German dishes unless some hipsters will "rediscover" them.

Ireland should certainly be the same as the UK. Potentially worse even.

Germany, Norway and Finland should be lower.

Couldn't be more far from the truth. While both cuisines are very hearty, the german and polish cuisine only share a small minority of recipes. Even stuff like buckwheat, a stable, is basically unknown in germany. Sourrye soup, pickle soup, pierogi, red beet soups, etc all major stuff which no german, outside of eastern germans adopting it, knows. They also wont die out, especially not in poland, where families, recipes and traditios are still going strong outside of degenrate metropolies like Krakau and Warschau. Germany is mostly the same as everyone knowns german cuisine and loves to try it.

It's more about the usage of sausages, pork roasts, cabbage, gelatine, gherkins, potatoes, dumplings and so on. Of course there are some differences, but when it comes to old fashioned dishes they're pretty similar. Much more than France, Denmark or Benelux.
I also meant that the popularity is declining in Germany (especially in metropoles, while still popular in rural areas) not Poland.

So basically every country has the same cuisine as long as they use the same ingredients, no matter the recipes? That's a stretch.

If by old fashioned you mean, famine food, yeah, well. If you only have tatoes and veggies locally grown a soup will be mostly the same from france to russia. But that's nothing to base the cuisine on.

Honestly? I don't even know the english terms. I thought you're polish, becaue Poles get pretty angry when you forget to use their polish city names (especially Danzig instead of Gdynia), implying that one thinks it's german clay. Same autism in germany tho, where they will try to delude themselves that all those slavic sounding eastern german city names are actually made of some long lost german words lol.

I'd say Balkan cuisine almost needs to have its own fusion category simply because there's so much variety and spins on better known dishes in a tiny geographic area. Yes, if you look at fringes it's basically just Italian, Austrian or Turkish cousin, but more center you the more varied takes there are on familiar recipes.

Eastern european food? My family comes from a former soviet state in the caucausus, so yes, plenty of russian/eastern european influence. However, georgian food has a pretty big influence in transcaucasia and so does Arab/middle eastern stuff coming up from the south, hence why caucasian food is good

Portuguese introduced Chilies from Mexico to Asia (India specifically). Portuguese also introduced potatoes, cacao, tomatoes, beans, peanuts and corn into Europe along with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and clove amongst others from Asia into Europe. Tea was also introduced into Europe by the Portuguese.

Piri-piri chicken (inspiration for Nando's) and Pasteis de Natas along with Port Wine are probably their most well known culinary exports.

I'd say Irish food is generally pretty bland, same as British stuff really, but it's definitely satisfying. Boxty is great when you fry it in butter and parsley alongside some bacon, letting it absorb the flavour in the pan, but hardly anyone seems to make it anymore. Also fresh chowder with well-buttered soda bread is an absolutely perfect combination.
