In my whole life I've only lived in two homes that didn't already have natural gas lines installed. One was pretty rural, we had an oil furnace for heat and hot water, and a propane tank for the stove and dryer. The other was completely off-grid, heating and cooking done on a wood stove. If you're far from civilization you don't want electric appliances, if you aren't then you just look for a place that already has gas lines installed when you're looking for a place to buy or lease. The only people who have electric stoves are tenants in illegal apartments and dumbasses who didn't know better.

Yo I grew up in the countryside away from a mains gas supply and had a lot of experience with electric hobs. When I moved out to a city everything was gas hob.

Gas hobs are way fucking better. You can increase or decrease the heat instantly. Every electric hob I used with the exception of induction (which is still rare here) lacks that ability and instead you are offsetting pans, putting pennies on the top to introduce an air gap etc.

Also while thick based cookware is always great, it is essential on all electric hobs for even heat distribution. It also should be flat for good metal to metal contact and effective heat transfer. For induction you need a ferrous pan with a decent base because that is what heats up and also a lot of cookware will vibrate/resonate if it isn't heavy weight. Good luck with your slightly warped frying pan.

Also they take forever to cool down meaning if you like to clean stuff, wipe it over etc you've got to watch it burn on. It is quite easy to scratch the glass top or even damage it which is an issue for me as I've lots of cast iron cookware with rough unfinished bases. Also I home brew and make cheese and things using pans up to 70 litres. I'm not going to sit one of those on a glass fucking top. Imagine if I had a little flaw or rock stuck to the base which focused the weight onto one spot?

Gas allows a bunch of different cooking methods like blackening peppers, flat breads etc that you can't do on electric. It is also cheaper per thermal unit. It also works in a powercut. It also takes a large energy hungry appliance off the home supply. Here at least that is a thing, a large electric stove can consume 50+ amps where many houses have an 80 amp breaker. You will find more modern homes have a 150 amp breaker, but most of the housing stock here is ancient so it is potentially an issue with running a washing machine, a tumble drier, a toaster, a kettle, a power shower etc it was definitely an issue back home in the countryside.

Don't buy Amazon $19.99 gas detectors, they don't do shit. The detectors used by professionals cost up to couple thousand bucks, and there's reasons for that. Your gas has an added smell to it that kicks in way before there's any danger. If it comes close to being enough gas to cause an actual explosion, it will reek enough so that you won't stay indoors anyway.
