When I had disagreements with my dad as a kid I kept that shit to myself and shut the fuck up because I wasn't a petulant crybaby who would go sob on the internet about his dumb dad and expect a bunch of strangers to give you an emotional hug and tell you that you're right and everything will be okay. I respected him, even as a moody teenager, and that respect was enough that any of his quirks or things I disliked were things I knew to shut up about because I could bide my time for when I would be out on my own and I could run my life and surroundings as I saw fit.
