Why are people obsessed with Alton? I liked him as a kid but once I grew up and started cooking on my own I grew to dislike him.
His recipes are either super basic or they have his own "personal twist" to it that are questionable at best or awful at worst. Sometimes his recipes are even flat out wrong and he has to redo them as he has done in recent episodes. Even if you like the history/science part of his show, you can just skim wikipedia for the same thing.

He's done allot for charity that he keeps on the down low. Also he's recently donated allot to restaurant workers who have been affected detrimentally by covid restrictions.
Also, his whole show gives much needed attention to independent eateries.

I like him, although he can kind of get a little annoying sometimes. But he seems genuinely happy with what he does and his love of food and cooking. If his shows weren't on Food Network I'd probably never watch it anymore, everyone else they have now just seems a bit offputting for some reason.

Guys fiery is a national treasure. Watching diners drives and dinners truly cheers me up when I'm sad.

I find him entertaining and Good Eats was the first cooking show I really identified with. Are his recipes perfect? no. But what other show has puppets and costumes? His Chicken Pot Pie recipe is excellent in my opinion.
