The utter state of modern 'breweries'

Welcome to the misery of a modern bartender trying to keep up with his own bars beer selection. I can't even keep up with my region, I'm down to clearing out the day to day changes in keg selection. It's fucked. God bless budweiser for absorbing 10 barrel brewing, and standardizing craft garbage.

I don't know what coastal hellhole you live in but none if those cost $8/can, guaranteed. 19.25 oz cans usually run about $2-4 each depending in what kind of store you buy them from. 22oz bottles are the needlessly expensive option.

On that topic, why are 22s so expensive? It can't just be the glass; they cost literally 50-100% more.

I had literally heard of zero of those beers until seeing your image, OP.

It seems that the state of modern ‘breweries’, as you put them, involves being able to make use of angry autists for free organic advertising with photos and everything.
Clearly the labeling is doing exactly what it was designed to do, and you’re the sort of tool they counted on to make it happen.

You miss understand, the average /ck/ autist doesn't even drink beer, so the gut reaction to seeing people enjoying something is disgust.

well there are beers you'll never taste in your lifetime because they're never going to be carried by the reps/distributors in any given area. unless you go flying all over the country and world quite often.

there's no fucking stopping a brewery from just copying the same old list of beer recipes from a brewery like Evil Twin selling them out and just pretending like the world of craft beer is really fucking something when it's just maybe 50~ beers with different labels all over the country.

I like drinking these occasionally, the shit they write on the back of those hipster IPA cans is fucking peak cringe. They all have some weird gimmick like:

Check out antique beer cans. They've had crazy shit on them for a long time. I once watched an old cone top can with a goofy fuckin' goat on it (a bock beer) sell at an auction for I can't even remember how many thousands of dollars. An empty can, just because it was in nice condition, and had something interesting on it.

Nothing is original anymore, it's all the same, just different

Honest question, but why are IPAs so popular with the “it” crowd?
Don’t get me wrong, I have had a decent IPA on occasion; sour and hoppy, yes, but lots of different lush flavors and a great floral scent, almost more like a wine then beer. I’ve also had an over abundance of crap IPAs too, though, that were basically citric acid in a can.
For a crowd that tried to make themselves seem like “foodies”, they’re really missing out. I love the caramel nuttiness and maltiness of an amber or red, and the velvety texture and dark coffee notes of a thick stout. Or the crispness and clean wheatiness of a cold lager, on occasion. I feel like whole industry is just pigeon holing itself, when there are so many different flavors to try then just “tart and fruity”

I agree with this but the problem is nobody actually cares that much. The "in" crowd of which you speak will try my IPA or sour ten times out of ten when I offer, but then usually don't even have the appreciation to finish the damn can.

It's always: *sip* "mm, that's so good" *takes maybe 2 or 3 more sips and ditches the drink when you aren't looking.

The in crowd likes IPA and sour because in all reality they don't but it's the closest thing so far. Don't make them more confused than they already are, we can simply enjoy what they can't.
