My doctor told me I have high cholestorol, and to not eat cheese, including pizza, (his words) or red meat.
He's kind of an angry boomer that gets annoyed at questions and I'm too lazy to switch right now, it's a nightmare with insurance.
If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it.
1. I eat steak like once a week, will once a month be ok?
2. I don't really eat pizza, maybe like 2x a year, but I usually have a single slice of cheese on sandwiches, is that really too much?
3. are there any foods I should be eating to help? or anything else to avoid? Are eggs really that bad?

How high is your cholesterol and how high are your triglycerides?

To hell with your doctor, demand statins. That's what I did. On them now and I can eat whatever the hell I want without consequences.

He is old and wrong. Stop eating sugar and "vegetable" seed oils. I used to eat a standard western diet full of refined sugars, refined flours, and seed oils. After switching to keto for several years my total cholesterol went way down, my triglycerides went way down, and I honed a very favorable lipid profile by eating an even split of saturated animal fats, oily fish, and EVOO. My doctor was 100% wrong. I disobeyed and won. I am over 40 and have the stats of a 20-year old now. Eggs are great. Cheese and butter are great. Grass-fed beef is great. Pork is great. Sardines are great.

Asking a clinical doctor for nutrition advice is like asking your middle school health teacher. They aren't trained properly for nutrition and don't have the knowledge base to give sound advice. They're good for fixing bones, not for managing your personal health, that's your responsibility.

We don't have any long term studies on diet. All we have is crappy correlational studies.

Do what this guy did. Get rid of the processed junk food, the seed oils, the sugar, the refined grains, which most people can agree aren't very good for you.
