They are mainly Hampshire crosses. I have 6 right now. 4 are going to myself and family members and two are becoming breeders. This will be my first year breeding. I usually buy them at 6 weeks and raise them till they are about 7 months

I would say it is the quality of the meat and knowing what is and how it was raised. I would guess you could raise one from weaning to processing for around 600 which would put you at 5.00 per lb.

Ducks have to be trained to go in at night. But the meat and egg breeds arent likely to go off anywhere. My pekins cant fly at all. They do fine with a kitty pool. They minimum they need is to be able to dunk thier head into the water. Theyre louder than chickens but they dont dig up the yard.
