Why are they like this and is it really how things are?

Michelin stars are a scam.

it's really funny that a car tire company became the biggest authority on the quality of restaurants

Does anyone actually enjoy French food? I’m serious. I feel like everyone who praises it is some pretentious soy fag

But what you're saying is wrong, the country with the most starred restaurants is actually Japan.

Also, Michelin doesn't judge the quality of a whole country but of one specific restaurant and more precisely one specific chef.

Finally, for the retards who think that the Guide Michelin is just a tire company, they've been separate entities for almost 50 years.
The Guide Michelin was created by the original tire company when barely anyone had cars so they made a mapping of restaurants you would find on the road with a quick rating system. Later, it became so fucking popular that it turned into a haute cuisine rating company.

Michelin doesn't say "your food bad", also they have much lowered standards for non-french food, you don't know what you are talking about

>steak
>potatoes

>chicken
>fish
>sometimes garlic but usually mostly onions

How can you not enjoy French Food?

How is baguette with butter and ham unenjoyable?

How is steak with fries and sauce béarnaise unenjoyable?

Duck confit, foie gras, all the variety of cheeses, how are they unenjoyable?

>I feel like everyone who praises it is some pretentious soy fag
And therefore I assume you have the psychological need to distance yourself from many things in the life that are nice, thereby cementing your place among the lower classess. I guess you're partly right though, if YOU are French food, it would be pretentious.

Obviously other countries have good cuisines. To be hones the world is becomming so homogeneous that you can get good food pretty much everywhere, or find the recipes online.

Taking pride in your national cuisine is a larp anyway, you didn't personally invent any of those dishes, any decent chef can make them anyway with a recipe.

How the the duck did fuck confit not get exported to the US ? Duck marinated in grease sounds like it would be a good success there.
