I made a fruitcake and it tastes good but is far too rich; I can't even eat a full slice of it. Can I fix this by adding a glaze or something?

Drench it in lemon juice or something? Or just eat smaller slices

this I heard it helps distribute the richness, but you have to continue to do it otherwise the cake will reacquire it all again.

You could make some sweet butter to eat with it, but it's not going to make it less rich. Don't worry though, fruitcake lasts forever. You'll be eating it through July.

Citrus glazed can be very tart.

that won't change how rich it is.

if it's too rich , you're still going to feel like you want to gulp down some water or eat it with some thing more plain like cream/ice cream whether or not you add some lemon sugar glaze to it.

>> No.17033400

>>17033058
>or eat it with some thing more plain like cream/ice cream
that was pretty much the idea. use a glaze as the cream/ ice cream. I tried using some dusting sugar and it worked alright, I think I'm going to glaze one piece and if it works use it on the other loaf.

Why did fruitcake become some kind of Christmas punchline for baby boomers? What's wrong with it?
