Eating spicy, bitter, or sour foods is a lot like watching scary movies or riding roller coasters.

For some people it's unpleasant. For others it's exciting.
If you don't understand this, it's because you have autism.

I like a cup of French press coffee with full cream and a couple teaspoons of sugar on a Saturday morning. It's a nice ritual and I get to have a creamy hot drink, and the brand I buy tastes like a mix of chocolate and tropical fruit so I enjoy it.

Cheap coffee, be it Folgers, Maxwell House, Starbucks, Dunkin, etc. generally has a bitter and unpleasant taste unless you add sugar/cream, or else have spent the time to really acquire the taste. All coffee fans would agree, there. But if you actually spend a little more money buying good beans (and I'm not talking anything insanely luxurious, you can find plenty of high quality stuff in the $15-20/lb range, and 1 pound of beans can last you a while), then it's like another beverage entirely.

It's like comparing bottom-shelf whiskey to top-shelf, you're not drinking the bottom shelf stuff for the taste, you're drinking it to get drunk. Same with cheap coffee, you're drinking it for the caffeine. Gotta get higher quality stuff if you want to enjoy it.

I don't even drink coffee for the caffeine anymore. I'd rather drink black tea for that. But, I just can't kick the taste addiction of coffee. I love it. It's literally the best tasting liquid apart from water. Might be tied with whiskey/bourbon/scotch.

I drink my coffee black and I actually like the taste. Sometimes I'll add half a tablespoon of sugar but that's about it, I don't like adding milk because it cools the coffee down and i like drinking it when it's *just* past the point that it'll burn your lips and tongue.
