I live in a motel room, so for tax purposes I don't qualify as a kitchen owner and all I have it a microwave and a fridge anyway.

It's fine though, I've made do with less. I can boil carrots by just microwaving a bowl of water for a long time.

They're separate units. In my kitchen my oven is entirely electric and takes no gas. The way they mount has much more to do with how kitchens are built here but my microwave is basically screwed into my cabinets on tracks and is entirely separate to my oven. Why is it done that way? I've no clue but I've also no complaints because I'd rather the microwave not take up counter space and I'd rather it be separate from my stove top.
