Minnesotan who lived in London for a year here, can confirm that walleye is infinitely superior to cod, and that we fry both the fish and the chips in a superior manner. However, I'll say that the way they fry catfish down south is superior to even the mighty walleye, and the sides offered are much better than the humble French fry.
However, catfish is pretty much only edible fried, while walleye is delightful no matter how you cook it.
