Apparently salt water taffy is not practically different in any way from regular taffy.

I feel like a little magic has left my world.

look at the bright side anon, salt water taffy HAS taken a life of its own as seaside resort taffy has become a culture unto itself. not just for those who enjoy the chewy treat, but for the families who make it. impressive boardwalk displays and popular summer flavours do give salt water taffy some distinction amongst general taffy. it IS its own thing.

When I go to the fair its for so I can sit transfixed like a sperg with an $11 gyro and $6 coke and watch the taffy machine make taffy and watch the donut machine make donuts. Then buy a couple boxes of these fuckers to take home
