oh based I love these threads (not really)
Let's see...
Ah, a bag of branded apples, overpriced at $8 a bag for $4 of apples.
Two of those giant low-quality chicken breast packages, anywhere between $11 and $14 each. We'll say $25 total to be on the safe side.
Two bags of those pre-packed peppers, probably about $3 each, so $6
Oh, five bags of almonds. Okay, so that's about $45 before tax since they're $8.99 each.
60 eggs, another $8
One of those giant dirt-cheap walmart cheese packs, another $5 or so
Hmmm
Oh two tubs of cottage cheese, so that's $10 for the two of them
Those tomatoes are like $3 a pack, so another $9 for $2 of cherry tomatoes.
Four pints of blueberries, so that's another $15 (@$3.50 a pint)

So what did we get so far..
Okay that's $135. So this woman paid $33 for two eggplants and a zucchini.

Oh man that's weird, the most expensive thing is $45 of name brand almonds that you don't need to survive and probably wont cook anything with. Haha that's crazy. You might as well buy 10 bags of lays potato chips.

>> No.18017641

>>18017597

That cart is monumentally fucking retarded especially if you are worried about saving money.

First off, they have FIVE BAGS of almonds... those were already expensive to begin with. In my area each of those cost anywhere from $12 to $14 dollars and it cost that much prior to these price hikes. 5 bags of that would be $60 to $75 bucks JUST FOR NUTS.

Chicken breast is incredibly expensive right now and a smart shopper would be buying other, cheaper meats like pork. Two of those packages also look like Almond flour which cost an arm and a leg. Those 3 packages of tomatoes are $15-20 ... buy real tomatoes.

Sharp Cheddar cheese has also gone up in price but it was sort of expensive to begin with when compared to other kinds and also having it pre-shredded... geezus fuck. Buy bricks of cheese and shred it yourself. Not buying local blueberries will also run you 5-6 bucks per container like that when you should be buying end of season fruit like strawberries for cheap.

When things get expensive you look for alternatives... what you don't do is buy what you are always buying and expect differently. It's a recession... welcome to reality.

I've noticed a 20% increase to my grocery bill. But I was always a minimalist and knew how to eat cheap and eat well so it's not like it's impacted me. I have zero sympathy for the majority of people who live pay check to pay check. The vast majority of them live a more expensive lifestyle than me yet complain about poverty. The point for me isn't that I can't possibly afford to live, I'm doing fine, but people's money clearly doesn't go nearly as far as it used to and that's frustrating whether you're struggling to get by or not; and if you are, it can be a huge deal. Price increase also really depends where you are, some places it's closer to 40-50% than 20. It's not like people can't manage but why should people have to cut back so substantially on something as basic as food (and don't get me started on housing- bidding wars on apartments and 30-50% house price jumps in ONE YEAR are both pretty hard to deal with as well). I feel like more families should take advantage of bulk purchasing stores. I mean, it makes sense to me. I live alone so I really have no reason to buy in bulk, I guess I could but it seems wasteful, like I don't need 50 of something or 100 of something. I do like walking around Sam's Club, haven't been in forever, but it was always comfy just walking around looking at all the stuff.

You can buy for an individual at Sam's Club, but for the most part it's really more for businesses and large families. I once saw a family go in there and buy like EIGHT bottles of fucking flavored coffee creamer, and I overheard them tell the cashier "Oh it's not for us, it's for our daughter." The girl was like 8 years old, and the parents were letting her guzzle down sugary coffee.

Yes? And? If I lived with someone we wouldn't consume 10-15 eggs a day. You might make what? 3-5 eggs for breakfast? You people must be consuming eggs at an enormously fast rate to go through 60 eggs in a week.

Pretty sure overconsumption of eggs was shown to cause health issues, there is too much of a good thing. Egg whites are healthier at least, the yolk is fattening as hell and bad for your heart.

Herbs are some of the easiest shit to grow. They grow without much effort at all, just throw them in, water them every once in a while and don't let the weeds take over. If you have a yard you can just dig up a small plot of sod (or buy enough pots for each plant), buy like 40 dollars worth of different herbs and have more than you'd ever use. >groceries were cheaper 30 years ago!
I gave up caring about poor people when I worked at a casino. Also as much as people spend on onlyfans, they can spend a little extra on groceries.

>Costco has buffered the effects of inflation. I haven't seen many prices there go up. Gas is 25 cents a gallon cheaper than other stations in town.
it was 25cent a gallon cheaper than the other stations in town before the hike in gas prices, before the pandemic, before blah blah... its always been 25c cheaper,
though now that the price has doubled, the savings compared to other stations has been cut in half per fillup

Russian economy is not doing better at all despite what you may think. For every single worker who receives money in USD or other foreign currency, not only are you getting less and less rub per dollar, everything inside of russia is costing more by 20-50% or more, so you lose on both ends. Furthermore banks are adding insane fees for receiving/sending foreign currency, like now in tinkoff you need to send 20k usd minimum to foreign account, and when receiving you pay 3% of sum but not less than 200 usd, so if you get 205 dollars from someone, you only get 5$ in the end.
Supporting the nation? I support the people, i do not support the mafia putin government that steals/kills/does what the fuck it wants at the nations expense.
