The 2nd restaurant job I had was at a fine dining bistro. They purposely didn't have a big sign bc it was a place for people to get away and not be crowded. It was actually really humbling. The fucking managers (may, depends a lot on who they are) but probably will try to get you do ALL KINDS of non dishwashing shit like food prep and general cleaning. All the "good" dishwashing jobs I had didn't last more than a season or two bevause invariably the mamagers that understood you were there to wash dishes would leave for greener pastures and some faggot dipshit lifer would cone in and screw you over. Its pretty unbelievable now that I reflect on this - dishwashing the evening shift, especially on weekends or fridays, was really a two man job since you need a loader and an unloader. What ALWAYS would happen is some back of house chef or front of house server later on would help you get out of the rush which was really not physically possible for one man to handle. In otherwords the cheap fucking restaurant- I'm sure this true EVERYWHERE is ALWAYS understaffed and is basically operating on a day-to-day basis on the good will of its workers who are willing to take on all kinds of additional tasks.

One HUGE unedianble advantage of unionised employment is that there are clear and enforced regulations preventing the cheap ass managers or owners from pulling this perpetually understaffed bullshit. Union jobs are boring for other reasons but they have the enormous advantage that the management absolutely can not fuck you over.

Worked back of house at a chick fil a for a couple of months during Covid. Met some cool people but I eventually left cause I got sexually assaulted by a literal female autist.

I pretty much do everything, except ordering merchandise. Work the grill, man the register, make the sandwiches, prep the ingredients amd so on when needed. I'm one of the few bilingual workers one of the other being my brother. Job's alright, decent tips, free steak every day.
