Maxime Trijol, Hine, Remy Martin are good cognacs.
Janneau and Baron de Sigognac for armagnac.
If you want to try calvados (cider brandy) then go for Boulard or Chateau de Breuil.

These are all good and easily available.
Don't bother with Hennessy or Courvoisier, they are horrible.

I don't drink much anymore, but I enjoy some bourbon on special occasions

I have a drinking problem. I had to cut liquor out completely. I wish it didn't have to be this way but my body can never get enough. Now I just get a 6 pack of beer and when it's gone, it's gone. Otherwise I'll drink a shitload of those, too. But something about liquor just activates my "more" switch and no amount will do until I'm asleep.

Bourbon. Usually whatever handle is cheapest, since it all usually tastes good to me. For the longest time Evan Williams was my go to, but lately Stedman’s Select has been cheaper.

Everyone in this thread talking about sobriety and going overboard on liquor never seemed to master the borderline. All good functional alcoholics now right where that border is where you can get nicely buzzed daily, yet never cross the line where it leads to problems.

I dont mix 99% of the time, but I have used premium liquor in cocktails before and it was a step above. not a big step, but a noticeable one. i only do it with something I'm familiar with so I know how to work with it and other flavors accordingly.

Suntory Kakubin. Best bang for the buck whiskey I’ve ever had. Used to drink it in highballs by the gallon when I was stationed in Okinawa. Unfortunately it’s nearly impossible to find in the states.
