seems like a lot of space and bullshit to deal with when the RO system I posted earlier negates all that, and at a cost saving over time.
If it's what you gotta do to save money, and it works for you, good enough, but if the pitchers are $40 each($80 now for both,) and the filters are $35 for a two pack,(80 gallons at best) you are looking at $80+$35+$35+$35+$35+$35 per year. That's $255 already, and for only~500 gallons.
Why not just buy all the RO stuff and only change the pre-filter once a year for ~$8.50??
A 3.2 Gal. pressurized tank is $60 that and the membrane,(~$28-$70, depending,) is the bulk of your cost. You can take it with you if you rent or move to another house too.

Lifestraw is 100X better than Brita.
The ONLY thing Brita filters are is activated carbon filters with either Sand or some kind of ion-exchange resin particles.
https://youtu.be/8NgdBHzHZTo
Lifestraws are able to take brackish bacteria infested water and make it potable--you would NOT want to try that with a Brita filter; they are ONLY for use with already potable water that is deemed safe to drink. It ONLY removes bad tastes.
You could probably get similar results by setting tap water out overnight to off-gas chlorination, then spray a couple shots of Pooph™ on it.
Brita is truly just another consooomer scam to get you in with mis-representation,(They literally SAY"Protect your family",) then have you purchasing overpriced filters for the rest of your life.
Only drawback with the Lifestraw jug, is the cost over time...
Which one do you have specifically?
https://lifestraw.com/pages/compare
It seems many of them don't remove chlorine or improve taste,(Active Charcoal's main benefit)

A solution to this that I've found is putting a .9999 silver oz. in the pitcher/dispenser.
Another possibilty, is UV-C light. With Gorrona and all, there were tons of UV-C battery powered disinfection wands for sale. Most of them are now under $10 since nobody cares about it anymore,(Wait for it, they will again sooon.)
UV-C does nothing for chemicals like chlorine, PFAS, or the myriad Pharma residuals, but it is incredibly effective at killing biological contaminants. You can even buy UV-C flow through disinfectors pretty cheap.
https://www.ebay.com/p/1962020305?iid=112207681646
If you have a cistern tank, you could always use one of these submersibles,
>pic
but there are inline ones as well. UV-C doesn't CARE whether you are a fish or a human, the water gets disinfected all the same.

I don't know if it'd be cheaper, but you could easily make a superior filter just out of aquarium Activated charcoal and coffee filters in a threaded cap cylinder.

How does the system handle clogging of the membrane? How do they handle the formation of a biofilm on the membrane? How long will it actually last?
Large systems reverse the flow to clean the membrane and optimize flow to reduce bio accumulation. Although by the look of the module they probably use a hollow fiber membrane which might be alright for prolonged use at least for a single tap not a whole house. Also do you just drink the water straight or is there another module to reintroduce certain ions like Mg, Ca etc?

The filter pitchers suck because you have to clean them, and the filters grow mold because they're always stagnating in water, and they make the water taste like plastic, and they make the water taste like your fridge, and if you run out of water in one, it takes a long time to wait for it to refill so you can drink more. They also waste space inside your fridge and make your water be too cold.

The faucet filter solves all of these problems. You're drinking the freshest filtered water every time you turn it on, with the bare minimum time spent touching plastic.

Been using an 18 cup Brita tank in the fridge for a few years. Instead of using .999 silver I used a few coils of new bare copper wire as an anti-microbial along with a mesh pouch of white calcium sulfite balls to further remove chlorine.

The brita filters are rated for some 40-60 gallons but I go through water fast and get about 7-8 months out of them before I start seeing cloudy tank water and replacing the filter. It's around $17 for 3 filters lasting 21-24 months.

The water doesn't have any taste or any smell from the brita tank and it beats hauling gallons of water home every few weeks.
