20175049 No.20175049[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

My grocery store just added indoor gates so you have to scan your receipt to open a plastic gate to exit, they just added this the other day, for years and years they did not have this
they added self checkout maybe 10 years ago then took it away for a few years, then added it back but with cameras that recently added a feature where the camera auto detects if you don't scan something or try to scan two things as one, though the self checkout still doesn't have a weight sensor
none of this shit is saving me money at all, its not like their prices are getting any lower
fuck the billionaire capitalists trying to make me pay an arm and a leg for groceries

employees create a higher liability on the books than self checkouts. spending all this money to get you to scan all your own shit means more prophets for them in the long run; the Machine™ has no sick leave, annual leave, long service leave, pay raises, insurance, training. Not to mention the Machine™ can't quit, won't ever be in a position to sue or slander or whistleblow.

Still blows my mind they don't have weight sensors, that should be the minimum thing that comes with the Machine™.

Any any case, welcome to dystopia anon, where the plastic gate at the supermarket kindly asks "paper please"

I hate those markets with gates at the doors, although most of the time in the US I see those at ethnic groceries (Latino, Asian, or middle eastern) which sucks because I really like to browse new stores but rarely buy anything the first trip.

>>20175049
Honestly it's hard to blame them. I worked with security for a grocery chain and in a few years they've gone from losing $100 a week in merch to like $500 a day. People routinely eat candy bars or hostess donuts and drink sodas in the store then 'hide' the wrapper or bottle. Tampons and diapers are routinely ripped right out of the bag.

Fuck the companies for giving smaller packaging and shittier products that cost less, but I can't blame stores for security measures.

And this is in a medium sized town in the midwest, not some coastal inner city.

the ones near me do

like they put in a dog gate basically that's metal and there's a plastic gate in the center, its not a big supermarket so this is making everything even more crowded
plus somehow there's another dog gate that prevents you from accessing the cuck carts (small carts with 4 wheels) so I don't have to hold a heavy handbasket

this is just makes me want to steal more and more cuz they are so resentful towards their customers

this is mainly cuz black customers try to just walk out without paying for anything but still, fuck them the owners are making millions off of us and the groceries aren't cheap and they jacked the prices way up during covid

>>20175058
but now they have not only am employee to help with self checkout but a separate security employee (sometimes 2) to stand there at self checkout to ensure you don't steal shit

>Still blows my mind they don't have weight sensors
plz, don't let them know, it's the only benefit to this shitty ghetto grocery store

>where the plastic gate at the supermarket kindly asks "paper please"
yeah
its funny cuz the other day I was shopping and the receipt machine was just sitting with all this paper sticking out cuz nobody took their receipts with them

>>20175072
yeah i guess its also to discourage you from just browsing but not buying anything

ive never seen this before at a market I've been to actually

>>20175076
this is only making me want to steal more because of how shitty they treat me as a customer
if they hadn't jacked up prices as high as possible, people wouldn't steal as much, food is survival

self-checkouts used to have weight sensors but the problem is they're really finicky and cause issues that require human intervention.

did it detect too much weight? HELP IS ON THE WAY.
did it detect too LITTLE weight? HELP IS ON THE WAY.
did it detect weight being added? say, because you brought your own bag? (city now requires 10 cents tax to be paid per bag in my city now. we also switched back to paper, single use plastic is banned) HELP IS ON THE WAY.
did it detect weight being REMOVED? because, say, you have more than 2-3 bags of items, which is all that will fit on the little scale platform? HELP IS ON THE WAY.

>I worked with security for a grocery chain
I remember the security guard at the grocery chain I worked at.
Prototypical incel. Acne ridden faggot with a power complex. The one time I tried striking a conversation with the guy, he acted like I'd run off with his fingers if they weren't glued to his palms.
Eventually he accused me of stealing from the store. Never stuck because I never did anything wrong, but I still got written up for it anyway.

After I quit, I waited for a new person to take over the customer service and intentional point of purchasing expensive products just so I could break them and return them the next day. Turnover rate at the store was massive so it was about as easy as pissing in the shower. I think I did close to $2500 of damage before I got bored.

i think hes talking about the nice stores that let you weigh your produce and print a sticker for easy checkout later. i never ouright steal but i will use regular codes for organic if the regular stuff isnt available or looks like shit. not going to pay extra for their inventory management failures.

I'd be surprised if you can't just push the gates open or if there isn't an emergency button.
You don't need to lock people in for something like that, you just gotta set an alarm so that it brings attention to them if there isn't already a bigger emergency going on.

>> No.20175681

>>20175053
presumably the gate's flimsy enough that you can push through in an emergency
outside of one you would be identified as a thief though

That's because you're a nigger.

This is thread of full of people who live in niggerville where everything flies off the shelves if they don't put it behind bars. Try to get a bottle of laundry detergent in the ghetto.

Markets have a 1-2% profit margin, thinner than most other industries, yet you poor ass niggers expect free food. Maybe you all should get a job and stop being a parasite.

For most products/industries prices don't ever go back down, besides sales or loyalty programs. TVs and smartphones are the rare exception where over time quality goes up while prices go down. You can draw your own conclusions about why (((they))) have decided devices that dumb us down, pacify us, advertise to us and allow us to be spied on are the only exceptions to the trend of "rising price to go along with decreasing quality."
