>live in vietnam
>don't eat veg oils
>no leaf lard at the market
>butter hard to find and expensive
>buy back fat at market
>biscuits and pie taste super porky (in a bad way)
>also hate milk
>but water biscuits are terrible

Any advice for masking pork flavor in baking, or tips on alternate fat choices for biscuits/pie crust? Any viable replacement for milk in biscuit dough? And any other tips on baking without butter or shortening.

thanks

Wouldn't margarine be there? It's super cheap and usually exported everywhere, esp places with no milk.

It might be terrible for you, but...hey. Better than never getting your pie.

i can get margerine and even crisco, but the most important thing to me is to make a veg oil free biscuit

Coconut products aren't available?

>> No.3903198

speaking of vietnom; do you think that napalm is a good way to heat your food?

I've heard that wet-rendering pork fat is supposed to reduce the pork flavor in the final product. Look that up.

Also, you could use a coconut milk/water mixture in your biscuits.

Seconding coconut oil, actually

It's not hydrogenated IIRC, so no cancer either

tons, but i have to chop and grind the coconut myself to make cream... too lazy... but that is one solution i use, though, still not as tasty as milk

I do, but there is a lot of non fat material in there as well. I know this is the issue, but my fat is pre cubed and i can't stand the thought of going through every cube... again, too lazy

coconut oil is, unfortunately, not stable at room temperature, so no go on biscuits

thanks for tips though
