What are your favorite snack foods?

I'm looking for ideas on non-perishable, salty/savory, preferably prepackaged and shipable snack ides to keep in my room, like dorm foods without a microwave.

I'm considering getting an electric kettle and cup or bowl ramen, also beef jerky. I also like those make your own tuna and crackers packages, so prep isn't really an issue.

Post snacks.

I can't eat most beef jerky any more; the kind my dad bought constantly was just too damn good now anything else just tastes like over-salted, over-smoked disappointment.

My dad tries to make jerky all the time, it smells fucking horrible through out the house and tastes like pure salt.
It's the equivalent of dog treats, but he continues to make it.

Good ideas everyone, I forgot to mention I dislike seeds and nuts, so those posts didn't really help me though they were still good under the topic.

I was thinking of gettong some of those go-picnic boxes, though they seem kind of expensive for what they have. Has anyone had these and can you tell me if they're good? Do you know of any other things like this or of ways I can make up ready to eat meals like these to where they keep a good long time?

Just buy meat and crackers separately if that's what you want. There are some meats like hard salami that keep well without being refrigerated.

I make a big bowl every 2-3 days, and dump in separate ingredients that I find laying around in the fridge. A half of an onion, a bit of bell pepper, cold rice, cooked pasta, potato, a few leftover celery sticks, a carrot that I'll grate in, a bit of corn, pickled garlic cloves, olives, pickled pearl onions, feta cheese, or generally anything that looks like it might go bad before I find an use on it. Then I make a dressing out of olive oil, vinegar, mustard, salt, pepper, lemon juice and whatever else is left, and store it in an old olive oil bottle on the side. Whenever I feel like snacking, I fill a small bowl with this, or stuff some of it in a halved baguette or roll, or so.

I always keep a big cake in the fridge and have a slice whenever I get home.

I'm trying to shift to other things though, like popcorn and beef jerky.

I wish jerky wasn't like fucking $7 for a packet though

Fucking tell me about it bro. Nuts aren't any better, either. You'd be better off just dehydrating and curing your own steak at those prices.

You could try making your own jerky. It's a little less expensive- but it's certainly better than paying 7 or 8 bucks for 3 oz of beef jerky.

I have an expense sheet back at my house if you're interested in making jerky at your home. Just know that you will lose (honestly) 50-66% of the weight depending on how long you dehydrate it.

Just e-mail me if you want the recipe or the price margins (butcher.op@gmail.com).

Jerky is pretty expensive, I'd like to try to make it some day, but right now I don't live on my own in a place where I can try it. If anyone knows any good jerky brands that are less expensive, it would be nice if you shared.

Basically right now I've only access to things in my room at night, and I tend to stay up a bit at night, and I'm not allowed to keep anything that spoils or might attract ants or other bugs.

I wake up at noon most days, eat immediately, then eat again at 6, then can't really leave my room except for the bathroom lest I disturb others in this tiny, sound carrying house. I don't pay rent so I'm mindful of the others. So I'd like some kind of meal-ish thing that's not too bad for your health to eat at night if I don't have time to prepare something.

Some jerky and wasabi peas might be a good combo.

Need some help here, /ck/ bros.

Trying to eat healthier but am a poorfag. Most healthy shit I see is too expensive and/or not very filling. What are good staples to buy? Easy recipes? Don't care too much about taste, I'll eat almost anything.

Pic related. Best foods that fall under yellow?

higher quality sardines make me really happy. i always keep a tin in my locker at work, plus a packet or two of mayo. great substitute if i forget or don't have time to make lunch and don't want to eat burger king or BBQ. mash it up with a fork, bam, delicious.

costco's season brand sardines tend to be consistent, quality wise, and are some of the better ones i've tried.
