Aloha, gutentahg, bonjour, and howdy ya'll!!!

Do any of you remember the time, when you were a teenager, and you and your date would go to the drive-in movie theater to watch some monster flick? You could cuddle, canoodle, and probably end up in the back of a pick-up (although this probably happened to a lot of rednecks without the drive-in experience). But mostly, it was a pretty good time.

But what you'd get to eat, is really stale popcorn, shitty cola, and maybe some soggy fries that were as limp as your date (OH SNAP!). You MIGHT be able to sneak in some beer, or these days weed, but a blunt and a bud does not a meal make.

So here's my question: what do you think would be good to bring to eat to a drive-in movie theater? I figure you guys might be able to come up with SOMETHING, but at least it's worth a try.

TL:DR = what would you bring to eat at a drive in movie theater?

Stop at a nearby fast food outlet and order whatever you want.
inb4 fast food is bad guise- you're watching a movie so junk food is standard.

Aloha, OP! I grew up in Hawaii and what's a drive-in movie theater?

We did have a movie theater (2, actually), but I spent more time getting drunk behind it with my sweetheart.

When I did go to see a movie, however, I usually ordered a box of nori wrapped rice crackers and mixed them with a bag of popcorn.

Or if you really want to get fancy then make some small calzones ore samosas. Even some rice paper rolls like pic.

No, neither Russian, or drinking cheap vodka. It's preferable to bring to the drive in because it's colorless and odorless. Technically, you're not supposed to bring alcoholic beverages, so this takes care of our needs. As far as what kind of vodka I buy, either Russian Standard or Tito's, usually.

At the movies, you want food you can eat without looking at it. I think a barbecued pork bun from the local Chinese bakery would work better than a western-style sandwich.

There are a few left. I go during the summer all the time. I'll pack soft drinks and some beer as well as lollies and crisps but both the drive-ins I go to have these kitchy diners so if I want popcorn or a burger or something hot I'll buy it there.

>> No.4529249

They'll die off soon enough.

- Only operate at night/no rain or snow
- More than 2 people? Bad seats.
- No A/C.
- Mosquitos (or you can windows up and bake)
- Can be pirated by going to a nearby hill with radio
- Ton of land
- Usually don't get latest movies
- You're gonna drop popcorn in your car
- Driving out of the lot after the movie is terrible
- One guy will run his car and A/C and you'll be smelling it

It's supposed to be $7.50 per person, but they never charge that much. They'll usually just count the people in the front seat. Tuesdays are $5.
The intermission between shows is about 15 minutes, I think. Long enough for people to go to snack bar and bathrooms.

>> No.4529278

Not that poster, but don't American theatres typically lack an intermission? I've never been to a film in the US with an intermission, though I'm sure they must have one for between films, if only to alot time to reload reels.

It can be a chore, depending on what's showing. Last time, we went to see Evil Dead, and the second movie was Oz the Great and Powerful. It took A LOT of vodka to get me through that second movie. What a piece of shit. By the end we were all desperate for it to be over. If it had been a good movie, I wouldn't have minded so much. But, yeah, sitting through two movies can get long, but you can always leave anyway. We've done that too, just left if we really didn't want to see the second movie.
