i hate it when they are too watery
especially when they are full with boiling hit water that burns your mouth when you bite them

It's a good job I enjoy them because every restaurant near me seems to serve either these or prawn cocktail and nothing else. I rarely have starters anyway but some variety wouldn't go amiss.

All of this. I fucking love me some deep friend mushrooms but I always bite into them when the inside is like lava. Also no one else seems to like them so I end up consuming an entire plate on my own.

Sometimes I'm only a little hungry when I go out to eat with other people, and getting an appetizer is just the right amount to fill me up so I don't need to buy an entree.

That said, when they're good, they're really good, but when they're bad, they're awful.
My favorite is when they are beer battered and served with sides of bacon cream gravy and remoulade sauce.
