Self-control can be tied to genetics. Imagine if we put all fat people into ovens.

Imagine all the melted fat that could be turned to oil. Which could be turned into biofuel. We could end the oil shortages of the future.

America would curb the market and the middle east would be irrelevant if we put our fatties to good use.

Why wouldn't you want to eat more yummy food? I was unhealthy though. I had elevated cholesterol levels.

I'd say when you take out body image and health knowledge, being overweight is a natural outcome in modern society.

I am happy now being thinner as well, and I know I look good, being much more accepted by society (though I don't like that either, how judgemental society is), but I DO have to watch what I eat. Spoken like a true fatty.

Yesterday I went skijoring with my dog for 28 km. It was a great time and after I got home from work I lifted weights for 40 minutes.

It must be sad to never push yourself or feel your body working in peak condition because of some kind of mental barrier or defence mechanism put up to justify being lazy, unhealthy, and unmotivated.

>> No.5308082

>>5308044
I did figure it out for myself, but it was only after I started feeling the effects of it that I looked into it. Fitness as a RESULT of productive activity is not waste. How is running around alone productive? I'm not saying sports, competition, or training for certain situations are unnatural. But those all have ultimate goals other than to not be fat.

>>5308052
Don't you see what I'm saying? All that stuff has put us in an unnatural situation. Being on a computer all day with access to cheap fatty foods IS unnatural. But our bodies haven't changed whatsoever, and will still have NATURAL instincts, to not waste energy and to eat opportunistically. We only have our knowledge to help us not get fat, because it doesn't happen naturally anymore.

Look dudes, I am skinny, I exercise, and watch what I eat. If I can have the same outcome from chilling and eating ice cream, I pick ice cream.

Same reason why my dog chews on sticks and whatnot: it can be entertaining (or at least a diversion) and helps strengthen her jaw muscles and clean her teeth.

Running alone will make you faster, stronger, and healthier. If you don't see this as an important gain from a biological fitness POV then... I don't know what you consider productive.

>> No.5308102

I like how you ignored the part about training for certain situations. I knew you would. You're still proving my point by listing reason that AREN'T SOLELY TO NOT GET FAT.

Why do you think laziness exists in the first place? Because we all are fighting the urge to go running?

>> No.5308114

You seem to be dancing around the idea that consciously maintaining health via exercise (or anything else, for that matter) is artificial and therefore should not be expected of people.

I have no idea what your point is. It sounds like a blend of naturalistic fallacy and a vague understanding of biological fitness. Or nature for that matter.

I suppose that is true, but most people I know have a lot more going for them then sleep, work, and a few hours of mindless diversion in between.

I sleep for 6-8 hours a day, work for 7-10 hours, and have all that time in between to do what I want. I already waste more time than I'd like to on the computer and 4chan, but I lead a relatively interesting and active lifestyle nonetheless.

Some people have no aspirations or passion. They just let time slip by and, at long intervals, wonder where life went wrong. Sad to squander your life like that, but that is there choice.

It's simple. Sports and lifting weights is not my favorite hobby. If I could take a pill to be healthy, I would gladly stop those things completely so I could go do things I enjoy more. I exercise out of NECESSITY. I said a modern white collar life will naturally push towards a fat life, and you people act like everyone loves fitness and has time for it and knows how food affects your body, and become fat only because they're terrible people. It's a society problem. We don't provide proper health education in schools, and we have demanding computer jobs, and hour+ long commutes.

I find it very hard to believe that people could claim to be ignorant about exercise and general health issues at this point in time.

If you found someone who did not understand (which is not the same as someone who does not care) that exercise and nutrition were key components to health they would represent the extreme outliers.

We are an educated society. People can choose to be fat and lazy, but you cannot possibly claim they do so out of sheer ignorance or lack of other options.

>> No.5308184

You need to get out in the world. People still think vegetarianism will make you skinny.

Where does the education come from? From watching fucking TV? You have to seek it out yourself. It takes research, and that's not something people will do on their own. They will listen to corporations or anecdotal dieting stories. That will get them on Atkins and Slimfast and get them nowhere. Not even doctors give good advice.

And have you ever spoken to a nutritionist? I have. It's a complete joke. The false information based on monetary interest is astounding.

Fact is, if you don't do any exercises you are less likely to be able to be outgoing and healthy when you are old and have time to travel or enjoy yourself.
It should take like 30 minutes to run 5 kilometer. 10 minutes to do a few pushups and other basic exercises.
Dont tell me you don't have this time 3 times a week, the problem is that most people start doing that stuff but stop after a few days/weeks because they just don't feel like it.
As far as nutrition goes: Anyone here on 4chan has internet connection and meanwhile probaly the best nutrition possibilities in the history of the human fucking race. If you decide to shovel unhealthy shit down your throat, seriously I dont have any sympathie. It's not because healthy stuff is so expensive, people are just lazy and like the taste. 1,5 % fat joghurt is like 0.60 euro for 500 gram, rice doesn't cost shit, fruits aren't that expensive. But throwing a pizza in the oven is just easier and tastes better.

This, plus weight lifting got my middle aged body 65lbs lighter. I decided to stick with it, and have been trim for over two years. Wanna know why?

- When you're fat people don't take you as seriously. Since I got thin people treat me with more respect, and my professional life has advanced accordingly.

- When I was fat I got used to being pretty much invisible to younger women. Now they flirt with me. That is fucking delicious. Also, wife has noticed, and decided blowing me more often is a good strategy for keeping my attention on her. Win all around.

- Doctor has stopped giving me shit about BP and triglyceride levels.

That's more than enough motivation for me to stay trim. Fuck being fat.
