use about a 50/50 mix of sweet plum sauce and sarachi (no spell check, the hot rooster sauce) and water down slightly if too thick. spicy sweet and very delicious

Plum sauce isn't a raw ingredient. Look up recipes for plum sauce. I'm sure you can find plums in Michigan.

I wish i knew my dads recipe for this sauce he makes its fucking great pretty simple too. i dont know it exactly but its pretty much fresh honey we get from my friends dad that keeps bees and chiptole tobasco sauce with whatever other stuff he puts in it its so fucking good. he usually does a dry rub and lets them sit for a day or so them grills them and puts the sauce on for the last idk 30 min or so

Salt, kosher 150 g
Black pepper, coarse ground 83 g
Mustard seed, coarse ground 83 g
Sweet smoked paprika 75 g
Brown sugar 72 g
Celery seed, coarse ground 64 g
Cumin, coarse ground 49 g
Mace, powder 44 g
Monosodium glutamate 7 g

smoke off direct heat til you can twist the bones ~10hrs

or if youre not going to smoke
mix Molasses 50 g Liquid smoke 25 g/rack and then rub with previous rub mix

marinating in sugar? Nope. That's stupid. It'll burn far before it finishes cooking.

OP, you want a spice rub, garlic, onion, mustard powder, paprika, cumin, chili powder, coriander, black pepper, salt...and if you want something sweet, consider a small amount of brown sugar.
