Dude hipsters have been around forever. The things they like usually become popular and stay popular with them as well. The popularity of tea in America, Hummus in britland, food carts in the north east are all down to them and are still popular.

Of course not everything that gets niche popularity goes mainstream. And of course a lot of people are full of shit. But people mostly don't promote anything they don't personally like. And once something gets mainstream popularity it isn't necessarily ditched by the early adopters. Unless of course the wuality of the said product goes down as it's popularity goes up.

Is that better than Tito's. Even in NYC the price on Tito's is really good, I think that's mostly because it's from Texas and not imported from another country. I like it anyway.

I think a bottle of Tito's was about $17-20, it's not expensive especially for what it is, a good quality vodka.

Plus I know a lot of people hate nationalism, but I like that it's made in the USA. I'd rather buy something made here in the USA than something, it's very highly regarded by a lot of people. No it's not going to impress some high falooting type used to paying $200 a bottle for some foreign shit, but it's just as good if not better IMO.

i get 30% all of our wine brands and 10% off all of our spirit brands (which is basically getting it tax free because the state i live in, tax is almost 10%)

Just turned 21 a few days ago. Booze has never been my thing but Id like to be a little more well-versed in adult beverages.

Stella isn't bad.

For someone in your situation, you should try out Shock Top and/or Blue Moon. I loved them at your age. They're still delicious of course, but they're not my go-to beer anymore, I now prefer beers without extra flavorings like the citrus in those.

Then you really just have to try beers out for yourself and see what tastes good to you, everyone has unique tastes.

When you're ordering, you might try out the beers the people you're with order if they're more experienced, and at a bar you could ask a server what they recommend. To avoid them asking what you like so they can make a proper recommendation (since you don't know what you like) just ask them what they'd order for themselves.

I like Shiner Bock.

It's a blond ale with a touch of rice as tribute to the town it's made in- the brewery was built in some old rice silos.

Their descriptions of beers sound like they're on acid, describing very plain, straightforward beers by saying there are clear flavors of random fruits and other equally insane stuff.

I don't want to sound like a dick or sarcastic, but when you actually consciously sip something and think about it's flavor you can start to articulate what you taste beyond simple descriptors.

It isn't pretentious or anything, it is just a group of people who enjoy something differently. Every "hobby" has people that are on that side of the spectrum (golf, wine, coffee, tobacco, aquariums, paintball, whatever).

There is no point in trying to understand where they are coming from or criticising them, they've just found something to get excited about (whether it may seem inane to you or not).

You are on a food and cooking board. Some people would think that is ludicrous.

>> No.5401663

Was hoping you were in the US.

Well, you may want to look for ESBs, that style of beer is very popular in the UK.

English style IPAs have a nice malt backbone and tend to have more of a balance to them than American IPAs to, so if you're looking for more of a caramel sweetness with a hint of citrus this may be the way to go.

As >>5401583 mentioned, Hefeweizens are great too. Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier is one of the oldest beers produced in the world and it is also one of the very best. Definitely get some if you can.

Belgian styles are good for curious beginners too. A Saison would be nice for a light, yeasty flavor with maybe hints of peppercorn or earth, where darker Belgian ales like Dubbels or Quadrupels will have tastes more like sweet dark fruits with a nice rich, warming alcohol.

As I said before, when dealing with quality beer freshness is very important so check for bottling dates or 'best by' dates, and refrigeration will help extend the life of these beers.

Don't know what specific brands you've got there in bongland, if you were USA I'd recommend Blue Moon and Shock Top, but there's a low likelihood you've got them. Surely you have plenty of European-brewed Belgian whites though!
