Most couples here, won't get married after a year. Mayber after 3, but that's pretty much the earliest.
Most couples here, won't get married before they are actually financially stable. ie. not during college, not during trial periods, etc.

But in the US it seems, almost every couple, stable for at least a year is getting married. Late teens and early twenties are getting married. Fucking college kids who should be smarter are getting married.

I know I'm generalising as fuck and am getting this information from a limited experience pool - but it's just something that always bothered me.

I get it for the legal reasons, especially if you want to have kids - although it always feels like a fucking safety net. Without marriage you actually had to work hard to keep it together for your kid...
