>McDonald’s announced Tuesday it had hired former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs as Executive Vice President, Global Chief Communications Officer, whatever that means.

>“Robert and Silvia are both highly-respected, talented leaders who will bring a wealth of experience and outside perspective to McDonald’s as we build a more modern, progressive burger company,” CEO Steve Easterbrook said in a statement Tuesday.

A modern, progressive burger company. $10 to anyone that can decipher what that even means.

>McDonald's Corporation today announced the appointments of Robert Gibbs as Executive Vice President, Global Chief Communications Officer and Silvia Lagnado as Executive Vice President, Global Chief Marketing Officer.

>Gibbs joins McDonald's from The Incite Agency, a strategic communications advisory firm he co-founded in 2013. Prior to that he held several senior advisory roles in the White House, serving as President Barack Obama's press secretary during his first term, then as senior campaign advisor during his re-election campaign.

>Lagnado was most recently chief marketing officer of Bacardi Limited, where she was responsible for setting the marketing vision for multiple brands. Prior to that she spent 20-plus years in positions of increased responsibility at Unilever, including serving as executive vice president of the Savoury business unit. She also created Dove's "Campaign for Real Beauty" -- one of the most awarded advertising campaigns in history.

McDonalds is, of course, still absolutely dominating the fast food market. "Lagging sales" is an eye-catching news item, but the truth is despite the troubles of the company it is still far and away the most successful fast food chain, it is not even close.

What trouble McDonalds does face is cultural attack from libtards who obsess over organic this and sustainable that and socially responsible semen lattes.

With the man who sold Barack Obama on board they will be able to reach the pretentious, neurotic sheep that are millenial progressives. Adding in the cunt behind Dove's "Real Beauty" (read: fat-positive) campaign will ensure that any fat-shaming underlying anti-McDonald's propaganda will be exposed as "bullying".

the whole point is that "real" women are fatter than the "fake" thin models we all actually find attractive. And pic related clearly borrows from the "fat-positive" silly argument that being fat is not a health concern.

But you're right, they didn't go for huge hambeasts.

I agree they should not try to please the progs. The only way to win that game is to not play. Even if they introduced a special hamburger made from sustainably raised beef from Guatemalan farmers who make a living wage, some fat cunt would make a vlog about how there are no transwomen in the commercials.

They make burgers and fries and so they should just stick to that.

It's not going to work, though it's hilarious regardless.

Thing is, Mcdonalds is shit now. On one hand you have their corporate stores being run into the ground by a mostly indifferent regional office and on the other you have completely incompetent franchise owners running near brothels and drug dens.

The whole "90s kid friendly" vibe was killed with the mcCafe garbage which attracted an older crowd. Those are the people that will pay for a prostitute outside and smoke dope while fucking her in the parking lot. Of course, McD wouldn't have these problems in the first place if they could bother hiring better employees, but they won't because their wages are low and their benefits shit. So basically, their corporate office said "we don't care" and that's the exact type of response they get back from their customers. Their locations themselves are pretty shit too, most are in dying suburbs and in places where people don't actually want to get out of their cars.

Walmart has the same issues but with even steeper competition from the likes of Dollar Tree and Amazon.

And as for their food, it's shit and has been for a long time now. But until a few years ago it was cheap enough where $5 could get you a full combo. Now a big mac meal in my area costs $10 with tax. The menu itself is convoluted and they always undercook their food so it's just room temperature. Their soda is clearly watered down too.

Point is, McD is going down the same road Sears did. What was once a trusted brand with millions of loyal customers is now being broken apart by vultures until it's bankruptcy. It's clearly not going to happen anytime soon, it took Sears 30 years to get to where they are now, but the slide has started.

tl;dr McD is shit rant over

San Francisco. McD is leaving here, officially, due to taxes/leasing costs but really it's because all their stores here were literal brothels and the SFPD was getting pissed off over it. The ones in the east bay aren't much better, the only good places to eat are ones where the employees will tell you to leave if you don't buy anything. For the most part, this includes Chick-Fil-A, In-N-Out and Carls Jr. From my time in LA it was the same. Even stores in good suburbs felt trashy and would have questionable people hanging around (either homeless people, or people who looked like shit and smelled like it).

Their employees here too are pretty shit, you're lucky to get one that speaks enough english to not screw up your order or spit in your food. As for being a "family" place the only kids there are dropouts and truant teens who know the local library will call the police.

>> No.6582187

McD's is losing ground to a number of smaller chains.

For a looooong time the only competition they had to worry about was other large-sized burger chains (and Subway, etc. to a degree).

On top of the rise of smaller (in comparison to McD's) chains, McD's is no longer culturally relevant and is often in a negative light. Their popularity has waned from "let's go to McD's" to "I guess we can just go to McD's, it's close by".

They're a large corp. which works at a snails pace and finally realized they need a new direction with marketing and their overall experience.

Hiring someone who helped elect and keep a mediocre guy in the fucking presidential office for the purposes of rebranding and information control doesn't seem like that bad of a plan. Having someone with direct connections to the highest offices in government is worth at least double-bonus internet points.

No shit, but the thing is other restaurants aren't. I've seen Chick-Fil-A managers personally remove homeless people who don't buy anything and In-n-Out employees have the police drag off truants and their enablers. McDonalds doesn't do this, so their stores went into the shittier. Same for their parking lots: most better stores limit you to 30 minutes or you get towed. McDonalds doesn't so you get homeless people sleeping in them (either in their cart tents or in their cars).

Point is, shitty people exist everywhere but they only congregate in shitty places that don't kick them out (like dive bars, public parks, under bridges, behind malls etc). McDonalds is one of those places, and is special because they're a chain operation and their brand used to have higher standards.

By the way, as a result of this these stores don't have issues with prostitution on drug dealing. They're safe places to take your family to on a weekend or to drop in for lunch. They're not the place juan and juanita go to when they fail out of school and need a place to hang out in.

i hate to take the convo in this direction but when you pay someone minimum wage youre going to get minimal effort. mcD couldn't raise their wages high enough to attract better workers without the federal government doing it for them. mcd could never make payroll. but if the feds at least got things moving toward a high wage then mcd could hire better employees, not just nigs, and when people start seeing a change behind the counter then the perception of the company will change from being 'food made for the poor by the poor' to a nice enough treat one night a week.

>> No.6583044

Ah, no. Because at a lower wage they could still get employees who were competent enough to do the job since the federal government is letting millions run across the border.

The market is what drives wages up naturally for the unskilled McJob workers.

If the federal government raises the wages to $15, then workers who have some experience, some expertise will start to apply for the McD jobs, and the no-skilled people will be out of work. OR it makes makes the net present value of food automation positive, and the job disappears forever.

I've eaten at McDs all over the US and the world. Yeah, you get a retard every once in a while, but nothing so bad I blame the employees.

I know what you're talking about re: In-n-Out. I don't know how they manage to keep it so white, but it's probably because they pay more than McDs so they attract more educated, better people.

http://www.kcet.org/living/food/food-rant/why-does-in-n-out-pay-so-well.html

I think that McDs really is and has to fill that niche of poor people junk food. It's like a vacuum that must be filled that compels low prices and, therefor, low wages and cut corners.

I also like having veggies on my burger, and at McDonalds there really isn't a cheaper menu option compared to similar chain spots like BK or Wendy's. I can get a Whopper Jr. or Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger that has lettuce, tomatoes, and onions on it for less than $2, while at McDonald's I have to pay more to get a lesser quality product.
