Where on Eglinton? It's a big street. Which intersections, which area will you be in? Will you be able to get around the city or are you kind of stuck in that area?

Actually I haven't booke the AirBnb yet. Cheapers rooms seem to be scattered in the East end or Northern TO, like near the highway and eglinton. But I plan on walking a lot to discover new places, so the area of the city is not a problem.

Eglinton around Yonge is okay.

Go west of that, Niggers. Great caribbean food.

Go East, boring and spaced out. That street sucks.

Stay on Danforth if you can. Really nice street, and the subway runs along it.

Go anywhere around the College and Spadina area for awesome bars. For awesome if a little sketchy rock n roll check out the Bovine Sex Club or for something more upscale (but still grimy/sketchy) check out cherry cola's. The place has kind of a hidden enterance though, it's down on bathurst just north of queen and looks like pic related on the outside. It's pretty based. Sneaky Dee's is also pretty based, in general around bathurst or spadina south is where you will find the best bars IMO.

For food it honestly depends where you are staying. Toronto is HUGE and the best places are going to be little mom and pop shops serving good ethnic food. We have AMAZING Jamaican/west indian food, if you get a chance try Hakka cuisine, it's kind of like a mix of Chinese and Jamaican and it is DELICIOUS.

Downtown has its spots but it's mostly stupid-ass hipster cafes serving gay ass fusion food that doesn't even make sense. It's all really pretentious and the shit like Burger Priest and Bahn Mi Boys is just overrated hipster slop.

>BONUS ROUND
The legal last call in Ontario is 2 AM. However, if you go into the right Chinese restaurant on Spadina (I know Canton Chili has it, probably others too) and sit down, the waiter will ask if you want "cold tea". If you say yes he will bring beer in a little teapot and you drink it out of the little tea glasses. It's 10 bucks a teapot and I think they are open until 5 or 6 in the morning. Just don't be pushy about the cold tea, and you have to order food with it or they won't serve it to you.

Alright, if you want Indian food, go to Gerrard and Coxwell. That's in the east end, and is where little India begins. Lots of awesome Indian food, including Paan and some delicious vegetarian options. You can take the 506 Carleton streetcar to get there.

If you want weird little cafes and south american food, go to Kensington Market, which is just north of Queen st. West. Google maps it. This area is nice to wander around in.

You'll find a smattering of good restaurants on QueenWest on your way to Kensington, so maybe it's worth walking instead of taking the streetcar.

Also, if you want Chinatown, that's at Queen W. and Spadina. Also on the way from downtown to Kensington.

If you're an early-bird, go to the St. Lawrence market. It's a five-minute walk east of Union Station and has an amazing selection of fresh foods. There's a meat stand on the second floor that sells exotic stuff like emu, alligator, etc., and there's a seafood restaurant upstairs that has a mean lobster bisque. You can find anything at the St. Lawrence Market, so go a couple of times if you can.

Okay, me here again....regular poster with the Gyro battle.

Another place I suggest... The Stockyards 1980 St Clair Ave West. St Clair West is Corso Italia neighbourhood, so its worth a visit.

Research that restaurant and you will see what I mean.

>> No.6840770

Hell yeah, toronto!

Even if it's a pretentious shit, blog.to is a good place to get specific suggestions for food and any other store type.

Someone suggested imperial pub... used to work there, ordinary kitchen, ordinary beer, but I guess its old enough to be cool.
Walk around spadina, dipping west into Kensington, cheap eats and a nice bohemian vibe. There was a big fire there recently though, not sure if shit is shut down.
Entertainment district in south downtown has some cool bars if you avoid the clubs.
Check out Spirithouse, off Adelaide. They've tacked on some stupid pub shit, but you want to go to the back half. Damn good cocktails.

Finally, don't be afraid to venture out of the downtown area. You can get a day pass for the ttc for like 10 bucks, ride unlimited, the train and streetcars will get you anywhere you want to go.
