Sup /ck/ So I've been dating a vegan recently. She's not the smartest, but super hot and pretty cool otherwise. I want to get her back into eating meat and have decided to go the stealth rout, getting her to love my cooking and then eventually tell her she's been eating meat this whole time.

Made a "vegan" chili last night, but blended ground bacon in and added a bit of extra fat for flavor. She said it was one of the best things she's ever tastes.

What should I do next? I was thinking "vegan" burgers might be a good step. Anyone else done this?

Please understand, when I say this, I am not vegan, or vegetarian. I think it can be unhealthy if not done right and that there is little point in going vegan at this point of human population:

Okay, let's pretend you are not trolling and are actually a sociopath.

Because she has made a lifestyle choice, likely based on her beliefs and moral views that you are forcing her to abandon by trickery.

Look, psycho, if you have to keep something a secret from someone in order to make them do what you want that is a bad thing. I understand your mother did not teach you about this, but surely your government mandated shrink has told you something to this effect.

>> No.6847415

>>6847395
I'm neither trolling nor a sociopath. I'm honestly doing what I think is best for her in the end. I think a fully balanced diet is ultimately the best one.

Also she's not a moral vegan, she just thinks meat is gross. I got her to try a bit of bacon once and she said it was gross, which is why I went with that in the chili, and I was right cause she loved it. I figure if I can get her used to foods that have meat in them and enjoy them, then she'll be cool when I tell her.

I don't believe this is true. I think you're being a dick. But even suspending judgment for a second on that, you say:
>I think a fully balanced diet is ultimately the best one.
You're going to let your beliefs go directly against the stated desires of your gf because she's "not so smart" but "super hot"? You know better than Ditzy, so you can go against her will behind her back.

That's unbelievably patronizing and arrogant. And if that's the case I'd say it's even worse than just being a dick and feeding your vegan gf meat on the sly because you're annoyed by her diet choices.

Are you serious? I mean a good mix of vegetables and meat fundamentally. I don't think you can be fully healthy eating only one or the other. I don't want to turn her into a flat out carnivore, just learn to appreciate the taste of meat so she can start adding a little to her diet.

>>6847592
Didn't describe it too well in the OP, but I took some tomatoes, sweet pepper, cliantro, oregano and jalepeneos and blended it all in the blender to make the base for the chili. Except I also threw 4 strips of bacon in there as well. She could smell when it was cooking that it was delicious, just not that it was bacon.

Which is really the thing, I think her refusal to eat meat isn't based on anything other than a kneekerl reaction that she thinks it's gross. But clearly when she actually had it, she enjoyed it.

Anyways, I've now decided to make meatloaf. She's already had one that I made just with TVP in place of beef and really liked it (it is surprisingly good) but this time I'm going to use 3/4 TVP "veggie ground" and 1/4 ground turkey. Everything else will be about the same as last time, so I'm looking forward to her reaction.

Not him but plants have feelings too. Read pic related, it's pretty mind blowing. Point is, unless you try to live entirely on minerals somehow you cannot avoid causing suffering. It's an intrinsic part of life. You may say you regard a chicken as fundamentally different from a broccoli, but I really don't. They both suffer when we eat them.

Not only that, the very process of farming is inherently harmful to the earth. Our whole civilized existence is. You can try to minimize it, but no matter what you eat, things suffer for it. You can say a head of factory farmed broccoli is a more ethical food choice than one of the chickens I had had running around my yard eating bugs and scraps until two days ago if you want. But I'll have to respectfully disagree.

>> No.6852144

>>6851097

Veganism can only be dangerously unhealthy if you don't supplement B12 and eat a very restricted diet.

B12 is produced by bacteria in soil, but most people get it from animals that either eat it due to grazing or are given supplements by farmers (as is the case with industrial farming). It's an essential nutrient and the most common problem for vegans, which is stupid because you can get B12 supplements for literally 4 cents per day.

There are some more subtle concerns with a vegan diet in terms of optimum health - namely that vegans tend to have a worse omega 3/6 ratio and lack DHA/EPA. The 3/6 ratio is fixed easily enough - just make sure to cook with canola oil or camelina oil, and eat some flax seeds. DHA/EPA are produced by algae, but most people get it from fish that eat the algae (or in the case of farmed fish, the farmed fish are fed fish oil from wild fish that ate algae). You can buy algal DHA/EPA but it's expensive.

Protein is actually relatively easy to figure out. There are two measures of protein density: protein percent by weight and protein percent by calorie. Plant foods tend to dominate by calorie and meat by weight. For example, mushrooms are 56% protein by calorie but only 3.6% protein by weight - you'd need to eat over 8lb to get a days worth of protein.

If you multiply those two figures together (56% * 3.6% = 2% for mushrooms) you can get a more useful score to work with. Doing this, however, yields some interesting results: mushrooms are a better source of protein than hot dogs (which are 10% protein by weight but under 14% by calorie); whole wheat bread is typically more efficient than ground beef, etc.

Take her out for sushi homie. Let her get veggie things like miso soup. Ask her how she feels about eating fermented foods like yogurt. Question whether shellfish is vegan due to the lack of a central nervous system and thus consciousness. Convincing her with logic so long as you aren't mad autismal or hamfisted will work fine. But people don't like having their beliefs challenged. Much less do they like having them entirely ignored. If you trick her on purpose and make it a grand reveal, you're probably going to upset her a great deal, and rightfully so from her perspective. It's like if someone was taking from your bank account to donate to a charity on your behalf. Maybe you could be convinced to donate to it if they made a strong case for why you should do it. But if they trick/force you into it, you'd be pissed to learn that a chunk of your savings has been going to breast cancer research.

I'm pretty sure you're joking about this. But I'm okay with a different brand of "trickery" personally. If you allow her to eat non-vegan things while knowing that they contain animal products, you haven't really committed a foul. So go to a Japanese restaurant and get some nice miso soup, tempura, etc, and the stuff will have fish flakes in it. If you get her all about miso soup and then "find out" that it's got fish flakes in it, it will affect her perspective, hopefully. If she is real into the vegan thing though, asking about everything on the menu and flipping out if she accidentally eats meat, I'd say you may just want to give uo the cause

The Chinese really are kind of weird though in doing that. Cats and dogs both have better uses, as vermin hunters and watch dogs. By the time their usefulness is up, the meat is old and old meat is fucking gross. Maybe in China they're more used to eating nasty meat, but in the rest of the world it's not really worth it.

Also, they're carnivores so raising them specifically for food is pretty pointless.

That's the thing, she's not vegan (or octo-lovowhatever) out of any sort of moral thing, it's just that she finds that stuff gross. So she'll eat an egg if it's part of eggbread, but not on it's own. She's fine with a bit of milk as an ingredient but will never eat cheese or anything "cheezy" cause it's gross. She's not a typical animal lover veggie type.

Which is why I'm doing it this way, I think if she gets used to a bunch of foods she likes and then realizes there was some meat in them she'll be fine with it. And like I said if she's not, that's cool. I really like this girl, but ultimately I'm not interested in staying with her long term if I have to switch to a mostly vegan diet or cook two meals all the time. If this works it could be great, if not then whatever.

I'm obviously not worried about her attacking me. At the worst she may break up with me, which as I said earlier I'd be fine with. I like this girl, and potentially this could be a long term thing. But I'm not willing to put up with how picky she is about food forever. If this wakes her up and gets her over the hump of thinking meat is gross then great. If she breaks up with me over it, then she's not someone I'd want to keep dating anyways.
