What defines Thanksgiving then? I admit I should have got some cranberry sauce, but I thought of it too late. I started preparing everything last night and got up at 7am to finish and ate around 11. Gotta get it early so there's time for leftovers later.

The turkey isn't burnt, it's fried (cajun garlic style, gives it the color)

The disposable plate is because we have a massive family, and cleanup is a biiiitch.

Pictured is broccoli casserole, corn casserole, crock pot macaroni and cheese, potato salad (only thing that's not great desu), & fresh green beans w/ fatback. We also had dressing, but I'm not a big dressing fan. Everything is from scratch, super bad for you, and ridiculously good, in the way only southern food can be.

Green bean casserole on the other hand, I only make it for thanksgiving and always make a huge pan of it so there's plenty of leftovers.

One of my favorite ways to have leftover green bean casserole is on a sandwich with leftover hem. I've got a lot of potato rolls leftover this year since I made two dozen so I think I'll be having ham and green bean casserole sandwiches for lunch tomorrow.

LOLOLOL.....no. Thanksgiving is NOT our "pinnacle of cuisine". It's supposed to be a feast that feeds many people (unless you have a very small family like I do) that represents us giving thanks for not starving to death during the first colonial migration. That's it. As far as "pinnacle of cuisine", that's happening in restaurants and homes across the country on a daily basis, we just don't have a holiday that revolves around it.

>spouse comes home, is amazed at what's happening
>parents arrive next day to a full Thanksgiving dinner, are amazed that I pulled it all off in our tiny apartment with limited resources and time.
