I really like how that pan looks. Is it any good? What brand?

>Is it any good?

Wood handle = nope, it's not a good pan because it's not oven safe. How is that not obvious?

>> No.7736762

Wood woks fine on the oven top, or over a controlled flame.

Sure. But why limit yourself to only those applications when a pan with a metal handle can also be used on the grill, in the oven, or on a campfire. Seems silly.

i've been interested in buying a wok for a while.

where would i buy a wood wok? any suggestions?

>> No.7736789

If you are really cool, you will have a black smith forge one for you.

Asian market. Ideally you want a hand-made one rather than a stamped one. The reason is that the texture from being hand-hammered lets you push foods up the sides of the wok and have it stay there. The stamped ones are often too slippery and the food just falls right back down.

>>any suggestions?
Make sure you have a good strong heat source or there's no real point. Ideally that would be a big gas burner, but if you don't have that you can use the wok over a grill or set up one of those "turkey fryer" burners outside. A wok without that kind of heat source is about as useful as a perforated condom.

it not limiting, Those were made for in cabin use, made for convenience so you dont have to grab a towel every time you want to move the pan from hot side to cool side on a pot belly.

>wood wok

if you have a chinatown in the area theyre commonly sold in their market places.. and theres always the interwebs

If I can't stick it in the oven it's sure as hell limiting.

Convenient? Maybe. But it's certainly limiting.

theres no oven on a pot belly stove...if you want an oven you use a dutch oven on a pot belly....get it? it is what it is. for in-cabin use.
what so fucking hard to understand?

Don't hold your pan sideways like that, its going to spill.
